Dan Dakich telling Dawson to shut up. How ironic.

  • I have no problem what Dawson did. Saying yeah coach is really that big of a deal? Painter was just cranky like a little bitch and needs to grow thicker skin.

    Dawson was just in the zone and was taking over. I hope he shows that edge more often. Never seen him that intense, I loved it

    This. When Dawson committed to MSU, Painter was whining and crying and talking shit like a third-grader who lost a bet at recess. I'm glad Branden decided to rub his face in it. Painter is a grown-ass man, and he should start acting like one.

So he starts yelling at kids in the stands and screaming profanity at a teenager all the way across the court. He lost out on home-state studs Zeller, Dawson, and Harris. He's got to be feeling some heat.

    He needs to realize that bitching and moaning whenever he doesn't get his way isn't going to attract top-level talent. Unfortunately for him, he might lose his job before he comes to that conclusion.

  • I said it in another thread. Izzo will "discipline" players for stuff like this, but really, he likes it. Dawson talking trash, Nix dunking on people, this really is what MSU basketball is all about. We won the NC with a bunch of guys from flint. Ever been to Flint? Izzo wants our guys to be mean, instances like this one, as long as they don't end up in meaningful fouls, are signs of growth.

  • Painter should spend more time trying to fix his team and less worrying about some fan in the stands or Dawson. His team shot 29% and Hummel was 0 for 11. I'm not a huge fan of trash talking no matter who is saying it to who, however if you do not like it than do something about it. When your team shoots worse than a middle school team, plays mediocre defense and you are involved in rumors where you basically talked trash about Dawson and Izzo. What do you expect? Sunshine and roses? Dawson probably shouldn't be talking trash, but Painter needs to worry about more important things or if it really bugs him that much make sure his team is more focused and do something about it on the court. That way fans and players wouldn't have any room to talk.

  • I'll say though I watched the handshake line after the game. To me, Dawson's body language seem apologetic and Painter seemed OK. Kind of an attaboy response.

    If one wanted to give Painter the benefit of the doubt he might have been trying to get his team going with his antics. Although, his post game comments via twitter seems like he's dwelling on it a bit. Maybe he'd rather talk about big bad mean MSU more than the ass beating.

    So, the "transparent nature of people" is exemplified by a bunch of MSU fans defending an MSU player.   • Unless I find out otherwise, I'm going to credit Dawson with being friendly to Painter and blame Painter for making a false assumption about Dawson. That's how it looked to me. Dawson might have said something inappropriate, but I seriously doubt it.
