True, their fanbase has reacted just as you have said. Even saw a tweet my brother sent from one of their writers saying "former commit David Dawson named Ohio St, and now MSU, to his top group. Can't wait for him to add ND & Arizona" They try and play it off like their not bitter but that's a bitter tweet. That being said, we can't throw stones while living in a glass house. We acted, me included, like total assholes over the Caleb Benenoch de-commit earlier in the year and he was decent about it and did it early.

That's just scUMs way of dealing with getting ditched by a recruit, a way of saving face. Dawson decommitted and scheduled a trip to Florida knowing that when he did so Michigan would pull his offer. It was Dawson who said, "We are parting ways." Now after his visit, Michigan officially pulls his offer so Michigan fans can say they ditched Dawson rather than the other way around. Now in typical scUM fan idiocy, they are ripping on Dawson and sayng he wasn't good enough to play at Michigan anyway, and I literally even read that he's "nowhere near 6-4, he's 6-1".
Michigan's policy is the equivalent of getting dumped by your girlfriend and then running around school telling everyone you dumped her 1st.
Dawson must have wised up to the snake oil Hoke and company are selling and decided it wasn;t for him. He's a very good 4 star recruit and I'd love him to come here to play next to his teammate Finley. Dawson and Finley are 2 great O line recruits, hope Dawson goes Green. Would be a great pickup.

I'm sorry, but that's just not true.
The Michigan coaches called Dawson and told him he was no longer a Michigan recruit. That's a fact. He didn't decommit on his own volition, and some reports have said he tried to apologize and recommit, but the Michigan coaches had had enough. This happened before he visited anywhere.
On the other hand, he had been flirting with Florida behind Michigan's back for a long time, including scheduling visits to Florida and then no-showing. The Florida coaching staff was getting tired of his games as well, but they played it smart and ratted him out to Michigan, hoping we'd drop him right in their lap -- which we did. And they couldn't close the deal.
See, I'm not sure he really had his heart set on Florida in the first place. I think he's just one of those kids that really likes the attention. I also think the fact that he didn't commit to Florida already really bodes well for MSU. If the kid didn't really want to go Florida in the first place, and the ship has already sailed at Michigan, then MSU just makes a ton of sense.

I'm not as mad that he's gone as much as that he really screwed us over because we turned away many other top OL who were really interested in us like Pocic, Rodgers, Biven, etc. I think the more proper analogy would be that you have an opportunity to date many girls in your high school, decide to commit to one, who then dumps you and all the other girls are now taken so you have to go way down your board if you want another girlfriend

LOL, he asked if he couldd visit Florida, they said if he did they'd have to pull his scholarship, he said, "see ya later then" If Dawson wanted to go to Michigan he would be going to Michigan, period, he tweetedthis before he visited Florida and before they "pulled" his scholarship on October 14th, “Would like to wish the University of Michigan the best of luck…nothing against anybody associated with that program.” Before he visited Florida.
Deal with it Michigan fans, it happens to every program, guys decide they want to go elsewhere. Dawson wasn't buying the load of crap Hoke is selling and wanted to explore his options. This BS policy of not letting a recruit take his official visits will eventually hurt Michigan. It's not what is best for the kids, it's solely what's best for Michigan Football. You know not every kid is a good fit for every program and not every program is right for every kid. It's pretty low to not let a kid try to make the most informed decision for his future so you can lock him up early.

He planned on visiting Florida back in the summer, but the coaches talked to him and told him that if he did visit then his scholly would be pulled. Soon after Dawson cancelled his Florida visit.
Fast forward to now, according to Florida's site Dawson has set up a couple visits throughout the past couple months to go down there, but he "no showed" for all of them. The Florida staff got a hold of Michigan's staff to tell them what has been ongoing and right after that Hoke pulled his offer.
I wish Dawson well, but he doesn't know the meaning of the word commitment.

Michigan cut ties with him. Plain and simple. Who knows, he may have eventually decommitted on his own anyway, but he never got that opportunity.
I don't disagree, however, that the no visit rule is dumb, and will hurt Michigan (they are going to lose Gareon Conley because of it too) a number of times. I'd be surprised if they didn't rethink that policy.
