Deathstorm edition #288

  • Expecting up to 8 inches by Wednesday morning is some parts of the northern metro area. We will see....

This however sure beats winter storm warnings we got in Austin 2 years ago because a half inch was being predicted....smh....

It's going to be interesting. All depends upon how warm it gets tomorrow. There's a chance the first two hours of the storm coming through will be rain. It won't make the roads any better if we get a sheet of ice before the snow, but it might mean 4 inches of snow, not 8. It's supposed to hover right around freezing depending upon where you are. Whatever the outcome, you can bet on it being a wet, heavy snow (even if it's only 3 inches). I'm going to bet a ton of schools close since they all seem to like to take the day off this year (my wife included...though, there's talk of having to go extra at the end of the year if they have many more days off)

Not if it comes down at 1" per hour clip at a time like they are forecasting (early in the evening Tuesday)...but yeah will be mainly slushy mess I'm thinking. Also, 8" snow fall doesn't necessarily mean all will accumulate obviously.

Guarantee a few current MSU students will create a snowday thread tomorrow.

If we didn't have a snowday in the Fall of 2000 during finals week, don't freaking complain about ya not having one Wednesday.

When I was at MSU, I don't think we had a single winter bad enough to even entertain the idea of cancelling classes. They can suck it up and go to class.

Hell, we had classes on 9/11 2001, because as Petey said in his e-mail 'this doesn't effect us here"

Winter of 95? School cancelled for wind chill something like 40 below zero.....ice forming on your eye lids that was cold.

  • office is already closed for tomorrow here in KC....was closed Thursday and Friday from the last 18 inches we just dug out from - I think this city has 5 plows at most. expecting 12-20 tonight depending on where the heart of the snow hits...going to run another train right over the city.

3 inches last winter total - 3 feet in 5 days this year.

That was the worst. It was a very cold snow storm, had close to 2'. I had a 7:45 final that all the students showed up to, but the professor didn't. They moved it to the Friday of Finals week, which we all know is the worst day to take a final .

Yeah that was BS as well. I had a Lab and it was all anyone talked about. We had the lab outside that day and we were all just wondering what was going on.

  • I only want a school snow day if I get one, too. I coach a high school group and we can't practice on snow days, so we've lost a few rehearsals so far this year (because all the effing snow days have been on Mon, Wed, or Fri). But my office hasn't cancelled work. At least I have a backup practice scheduled already.
