Delaney getting hammered by media.

  • Buffalo Spartan said...

I forgot that counts as the media in tJYD's world.

Just like his "rumors" that UM wouldn't make BCS, that MSU wouldn't drop, etc.
He thinks he's a vaunted source and just posts whatever he wants claiming he's 'heard' it.

Delany, like the honey badger, doesn't give a shit. He's perfectly happy on his throne of bullshit.

Or, does he wear a crown of shit, upon his liar's chair?

Maybe you could say where you heard it? Nowhere in your OP do you reveal the source of your information.

    That's what I was thinking.

No one in Michigan is going to pull up ESPN Austin. Yet tJYD acts as if we should know this.

Seriously JYD, all you'd have to say is..."Boy, this guy on ESPN Austin, is blasting Delaney." and you wouldn't get near as much shit as you do.

  • I don't give a solitary shit for creating a +1, or any other kind of playoff system. What I would like is a commissioner who represents all the conference's schools equally. I'm fine with the BCS system, if the two Big Ten schools that deserve it get in. I imagine that delaney has gotten a nice briefcase full of cash from the Sugar Bowl the last two years.

It's more then one. Delaney is hated everyplace outside of Big Ten country.

He isn't that popular within Big Ten country, either.

this is a valid concern. With the Fiesta Bowl corruption exposed we have no idea of how much decay is eating away from inside. Like Transparancy International says, if you uncover a country's corruption of 10% of government programs, you can be sure there is corruption of at least 30% more unexposed.

What makes no sense to me is why the non-4 schools NW,IL,IN,PU,MSU,MN,IA contiue to support this man. Any ideas?

Delaney was a drunk embarrassment on national TV. Fook him.

How come this debacle hasn't been explored more, pariticularly on this site??

I doubt he was drunk, but he sure looked awkward and out of place. He could have had something more thought out beforehand instead of just saying "Wow!" then looking befuddled.

In his defense at that moment, it looked like the dude holding the microphone was pulling away. JD should have held the microphone himself and done a much better job. Needs to go back to "public speaking" class.

Also needed to hire a much hotter chick to hand off the trophy.

  • This is Delaney's second widely broadcast TV exposure where he appeared drunk and dishevelled. First was the B1G footbal media days on the day Kirk spoke at lunch. Delaney appeared completely bombed. The idea of him possibly corrupted is easier to swallow if this is a serious problem for the man. He would then be suscptible to all kinds of blackmail/embarrasing setups.

Because he's sweet talked the presidents by telling them about all the $ he's bringing in. And to perennial underachievers such as IU, MN, IL, and PU, that certainly sways their opinion more than whether the BCS system screws over one school in favor of another.

Lets see how things are going for Delany:

    1. His top team is going to get major sanctions, someday.

    2. His #3 team was a proving ground for child molestation for close to 30 years.

    3. Nobody thinks his #2 "program" deserves the BCS bid... and they're poised for a pretty epic fall over the next couple years.

    4. His #4 team is coached by a fat fuck idiot neanderthal.

So you have MSU ranked #5 in the B1G?

Don't think -- it can only hurt the ballclub

    On the other hand,

Ten of twelve B1G teams in Bowl games = MAJOR revenues (never before possible)

Wisconsin is the apple of the media's eyes, getting lots of positive publicity with Russell WEilson & Monty Ball (at least those two deserve what they are getting).

sCum is back in the national spotlight where he hopes they will always be - everyone has forgotten their NCAA violations

OSU will get off on their major cheating with a slap on the wrist - Auburn style because they are OSU

Lots of good cheer in Delaney's favorite bar.

That will forever be the moment that I associate with Jim Delaney. It was Dean scream-esque...

    "WOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWWW!!!!!!!!!!!!!" ...crickets............................

Also, it's probably not brought up more because Delaney would sue the Dom Perignon out of someone...

He was very clearly drunk at the B1G Media day lunch. He probably should seek help. If he was not, and he is always naturally slurring his speech and dishevelled then he need a personal valet and voice coach (and a bottle of visine).

  • Ohio St. waited to report playing ineligible players until AFTER the bowl games were announced (screwing MSU) .... and then, the players in question were eligible to play in the bowl game! Go figure.

The B1G conference is ethically bankrupt.

  • It seems delaney's set up is to favor the um/o$u winner annually, then one other BT team. When's the last time that neither o$u or um got a BCS bid? Has it ever happened?

It's not that he only cares about the cash. He only cares about getting more cash than other conferences in the current model. He would get more cash in a play off, but that would mean non AQ and AQ conferences would start to get more of the larger play off pie. It has more to do with keeping everyone else down than it does getting more money to the B1G.

    Bingo.

    SpartanGreg

  • Unlike in years past where Delany had the Pac 12 and Big 12 support, with their new commissioners... He is standing on an island. Delaney could do the conference more harm then good, especially if Larry Scott is willing to give up the Rose Bowl.

  • You'd think Delany would be pissed about an all-conference championship game more than having a play-off. This horseshit of two teams not only from the same league, but the same division is total crap.

  • Seems easy to me:

16 team playoff chosen & ranked by some magic formula. First two rounds in December at highest ranking team' home stadium. Final four at pre determined site around new years, final a week later.

Along with this, add 20 "NIT" bowls for those that don't make the top 16. These can be run much like today.

We'd end up with the same number of post season games as today, a few less qualifiers, a lot more interest, and a true champion.

Oh, and the 16 would make it by merit, not just because they're Michigan.

More than that, the BCS controls who gets the cash. The NCAA never will get their hands on it, at least not without some sort of legal intervention.
