    So your "dumb" thing was that you didn't live it up in college. You lived your college life like a boring square. And you don't have to indulge in drugs to be considered as someone who did crazy things in college. You sound like you were a ball of fun during your college years.

    Absolutely.

    There must be some tolerance for this behind the scenes if all the smoking (that many are professing here) is going on. I see no way that these same results are not turning up from time to time in the team drug screenings.

    I'm genuinely conflicted. I would like everybody clean... but not so naive as to believe it won't be so... but ok with a little college life partying... but... but... but. I guess I have a whole new appreciation for the types of issues that Izzo must manage. The internet microscope has taken this into a whole new sphere to where kids have to be more careful today than ever before.

    And, this isn't new by any stretch as it relates to MSU bball. I will not say any more than the 70's were a heck of a time.

    There are thousands of students who have thoroughly fantastic years at MSU and don't do dumb things, but do "fun" things. There's a difference. You can have fun without being stupid.

    What I don't understand is how Nix can not learn from the mistakes of other MSU players. Charles Rogers or the idiots who got kicked off the team due to the Rather Hall incident for instance. Athletes at MSU are in the spotlight 24/7. Very little margin for error. Much less than a regular student has. Furthermore, Spartan athletes have never been coddled like the UM athletes have been for years by the Ann Arbor and campus police.

    Nix was just coming into his own. He would be the only senior on next year's team. Don't they ever stop to ask if getting high and driving is worth it? Why can't he just get high and not drive?

    This is what is concerning to me as well.

    Yes. We all did silly things in college and were highly emotional. But given the resources, spotlight, and the insight of being a senior, you would think that he would be much more careful (given what would have been his new role as team leader.) BBall team things aside, I hope he gets his act together and pray that this is a rare, isolated incident and not an alert to a bigger personal problem.

    I can honestly say that while I was at State, I did both fun things that were stupid, and fun things that were not stupid. The stupid things I did, like getting stoned and climbing the fire escape to party on the roof at Ag Hall, were a lot more fun than things like playing cards in the dorm on Thursday night. I miss those stupid days.

    one day in the dorm room, we were bored and some how morphed bouncing rubber super balls off the ceiling into this this game where we were trying to hit bean each other...but we had to bounce them off the ceiling. you couldn't just throw it at the other guy directly. well, the game ended when one of us got hit in the eyeball pretty hard. His vision in that eye was never the same.

    I rather Nix get busted for pot than getting hurt playing that stupid game.
