Did BK just out coach MD?

  • bryanleeg said...

BK had his team WAY more prepared for this game than MD did, just like a lot of other big games, bowl games, games after bye weeks, etc...

The one thing Kelly is doing better than Dantonio is bringing in better talent. They got some huge D-line recruits coming in and they had 5 star freshman Lynch playing like a mad men today.

Are you kidding? So MD is only responsible for the D? Gimme a break. The head coach is accountable for THE TEAM. He had a headset on and could have changed any one of those plays.

Putting too much trust in his coaches is his downfall at times but I'd place the blame more on Roushar.

Being called a sunshine blower is not insulting to me and I'm proud to be one.

He's still a complete douchebag that isn't worthy of coaching at MSU.

Still got to admit he's a good coach and showed it today. I wouldn't care if our coaches yelled at our players, they deserve it today.

I agree 100% I dont know what the fuck he was thinking with all these gadget plays that were low percentage plays and then MSU going for a fake field goal when everybody watching the game knew it was coming was also retarded, Roushar sucks.

And Dantonio just HAD to go with the call? Face it, he couldve changed the play, but he didn't. Ultimately his fault.

Maybe if MSU recruited better offensive line wise they wouldn't have gotten dominated by ND's front four like they did but at skill positions ND does not have better athletes overall.

  • Abso-freaking-lutely, he got out-coached.

Can't put it on Roushar. Coach D is the general and signed off on any game "plan" they devised this week. Ultimately this falls on his shoulders.

That, and the players did not bring it at all today.

At its core football is a game of matchups. The reason why MSU has owned ND recently is because they have dominated ND physically in the trenches. Recently whenever games were close MSU always could run the ball behind their OL who dominated ND's undersized DL.

What happened today, and it actually showed in last years game, was for the first time in years MSU couldn't simply push around ND's DL.

Dantonio wasn't so much outcoached today. What's happened is that ND is outrecruiting him and today you saw the size differential start to play out.

I disagree. The coach's main responsibility is to give his players a chance to win the game with execution. ND is better in the trenches. You're going to play games where that happens. Dantonio's bonehead fake FG was the difference maker. That decision took the game away from us being able to execute our game to win. Along with the effed up wildcat formations. Do what you do best and execute. Period.

I've never questioned his coaching ability. I'm just saying hes a complete douchebag that gets videographers killed and doesn't deserve to win a damn thing.

The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.

  • We got out played, out coached, out lucked, out reffed, probably out marching banded too.

I take away no positives from this embarrassment.

No he does not but you also just cant overule every single play your OC calls because Coach might as well run the offense himself and not even have an offensive coordinator.

  • If we can't protect the QB what offensive scheme can we run? I only saw the first ND drive and the last 6 minutes of the game. On almost every pass play at the end our LT had help. We have to fix that.

He's a damn good coach and needs to be recognized as such. With that said, drop it. MD is our program coach and a damn good one as well. Roushar made him look bad today, however.

Dan France CANNOT start another game for this team at Left Tackle he got abused at will by ND, he fucking sucks.

  • Lots of ignorance here.

Kelly is an O-coach. His O did not dominate our D.

Kelly claimed he'd clean up the mistakes this week. He did not.

MD called a dumb play on the fake FG- kelly was one of 1 million who knew it was coming, nothing great about that coaching.

rouchar called some horrible plays at horrible times, and did not utilize our players on O well. Bell running behind Anderson was a no-brainer on several short yardage situations. Had nothing to do with kelly.

The KO return had nothing to do with kelly, one nd player made a great block and got lucky with a 2-for-1.

If, as a head coach, you think thats what it takes to win the game, then you do it.

You mean like 4 Star (now hurt) Skyler Burkland, high 4 star (neck injury kept from playing a down) David Barrent, 4 star (hurt) Nate Klatt, high 3 star Arthur Ray, and high 3 star Henry Conway? That's an entire starting offensive line we've lost to injury/illness.

With Skyler hurt, I dont think the Spartans have much choice. McGaha is actually worse.

And who do you think will replace him? If Burkland is hurt, Fonoti has to play RT. It is what it is at this point and it don't look too good.

  • You nailed it. The sad part is now scUM is recruiting in droves lineman starting instate. I like MSU's recruits but until we start getting 'talented' lineman will we really move forward as a program. Sure we will continue to be in games but in the end the trenches are the key component in wearing down and yes 'exposing' teams.

ND will always get high profile 4* and 5* recruits but now they have a coach that will get them back to Top 20 finishes and BCS bowl games. MSU took advantage of the past simply stated in your post. Question is where does MSU go in regards to the trenches?

    Zonk

  • I'm a lttle concerned, you look at the results of our last two legitimate D1 opponents (Alabama & ND)

Beating Youngstown and Florida Atlantic is nice.....but MSU has looked like crap against it's last two real football program opponents

    I am, therefore I'll think

You do understand the kid is young, he's new at the position and this was his first big game, right? And until the last drive, he had been good enough. I know we are all pissed about the game, but be realistic. You can't expect an all b-10 performance out the gate. And to be fair, the nd OT was giving Gholston the same treatment all game, never called once. Holding on the OL is a funny call, because they all are coached on how to do it without getting called. Difference is, our friends from the B10 ref crew made is a point of emphasis to call everything on us at the end. Sure wish they had been doing that when nd got their first td...

    mentalstate

  • The LT has to get it done. ND got away w/ some holding and if the refs don't call it, it's not a foul. Whoever plays LT has to get the job done or our offense is going to be 1.5 yards and a cloud of dust. The LT has to figure it out.
The coaches are not blameless this was forseeable and we have been talking about it for months.
