DirecTV Sports Pack Questions

  • Do you get any of the NBA, NHL and MLB games? They either say blacked out or channel not subscribed for me. Why the hell would I order the sports pack if I don't get the damn channels. Called them and they said it is correct, but I am confused as to why the hell those channels are even an option then.

  • The only way to get those games outside of your area is to order the league passes. The regional channels have other sporting events like college football and basketball that aren't blacked out, however.

Get the pak. Otherwise you'll miss all those poker shows.

  • I fell for this last year. Had it for about two days before I dropped it. All you get is the FSD (or any other Fox Sports Regional channel) programming but none of the professional sports. I think you get college sports (all that is left on fox sports is college hockey, baseball or womens volleyball. I guess you would also get the HS Football playoffs. It is a joke that they make you even pay for that.

If you were looking to get Tigers games, I would just go to MLB.com and order their package. Cheaper than the MLB package on Direct TV.

Thanks, this is the first time I got the pack for pro sports and I am shocked. I was able to watch the Tigers home games but not away, wtf?!

I am just going to hook up my laptop to my tv from now on, the only thing is those internet channels are not HD. ahh whatever.

  • The ONLY thing it is good for is late Pac-12 football on a Saturday night. Subscribe Sept 1 and cancel at Thanksgiving.

Repeat each year... Unless you dont care about Pac-12 Football and then never order it in the first place.

  • Fox Soccer is the only thing people buy it for.

The sports pak is good for MLB, NBA, NFL, Tennis, golf and NHL channels if you do not have one of the top satellite packages. Games or events come on those channels. Also during college football and basketball season there are games on versus( is that nbcsports now?)CBS sports and the other fox channels on west coast where you can see PAC 12 and BIg12 football and basketball games that are not on abc or ESPN.

For those out of MI its good for the Spartan sports shows both football and basketball. But yeah, a complete waste half the year.

  • I buy it every year the first week of September and drop it the last week of November. I love college football and you get a shit ton of games via the Fox Regionals.

Ever get the feeling you've been cheated?

    Dr Strangelove

  • Here is a tip. I order the sports pack every year around November for college hoops (lots of big east, big 12 and pac 12 games) along with Fox Soccer and Goal TV. I cancel in May. When I call, they offer the package to me for $2.99 a month for 6 months.

Thats the point. I ordered it for the wings and the games are blacked out. And if u want to watch the tigers ...... No deals. Package is worthless except for tiger home games and CFB. and u fuckers who pay 2.99 how the hell do u get that?

If you ordered it for the Wings, and you told them that, you were told wrong. If you didn't, and assumed you'd get all the pro sports, you assumed wrong.

You gotta get the league package for the pro sports you want.

  • I just dealt with the same situation. I have been paying for the Sports Pack for 6 months or so with the assumption that I would receive the Comcast Sportsnet Chicago in Michigan. I thought this was great, and they sold me on the fact that ...

"Only DIRECTV brings you over 30 Regional Sports Networks from around the country, plus Universal Sports Network, ESPN Classic, Fox Soccer Channel, GolTV, Outdoor Channel—all in one package. Whatever sport you’re into, whoever your favorite teams are, you’ll find it all here."

and "Follow your favorite teams no matter where you live. DIRECTV® SPORTS PACK includes over 30 Regional Sports Networks from around the country, featuring pro and college sports."

I called and talked to some costumer service guy that agreed with me. You don't get to watch your favorite team wherever you live, no matter the team. You don't get to watch the games that are on the package and you are paying for out of market channels that will not show the games. I still get FSD with my premier package, so the only reason to continue to pay the 13 bucks a month is to be allowed to be blacked out of channels.
