Disney to buy Lucasfilm for $4.05 bil, SW Episode VII in 2015

  • $4.05 Billion.

No link yet, but apparently a release is being sent out.

I can't wait to see the Star Wars geeks freak out about this. Han will never shoot first again! lol

Why would I freak out? George Lucas has been dead for 25 years.

  • Here ya go...
    http://www.wfaa.com/news/business/176474321.html

Disney is buying up everything... They own ABC, ESPN, Pixar, Marvel and now Lucasfilm. I gotta give them credit they pretty much are viewed as a company with entertainment for kids and families but their latest purchases show they really want to own the entire market from little kids to teenagers and everything in between.

  • Episode VII...The Search For More Money....There is unrest in the galaxy. It has been several years since a studio has tried to milk every last penny out of the Star Wars franchise....

The RCMB...is one of the most awful, alarming, inappropriate, disgusting, and offensive msg boards in the history of the internet.

  • Not just Episode 7, but a new one every 2-3 years. Disney is going to rape that corpse for all it has left.

And save your griping - you know you'll fork over your money to see them in the desperate but futile hope that they're somewhat decent.

  • This was inevitable. The franchise still makes ungodly money from dozens of income streams, its hugely popular with kids as well as some parents, and there have been about a hundred books written post movie 6 for source material. They could also just start over with a new story. It was only a matter of when. Too much money to simply stop the franchise.

    Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.

  • So now they can start off with Luke's kid after he tests really high for midi-chlorians and decides he should undergo jedi training. They take R2D2 and C3PO and zoom off to Yavin 2 where they come across Yub Yub which is a small furry creature that likes to dance and sing while eating Yubby Gummies to make them smart and enhance their ability to use the force. Amazingly Luke discovers that the force is also strong with Yub Yub and his kid and Yub Yub and the force have a synergistic affect. Together they can dance, sing songs, eat Yubby Gummies, and play while levitating objects and swinging light sabers.

This preview brought to you by Mattel, Hasbro, Nestle, and Disney on DVD (reserve your copy today), and don't forget the Super Jedi Yub Yub Ride opening at Disney World this Christmas.

Your DVD comment at the end made me wonder if the Star Wars films are going to go in the Disney Vault! Oh no!

  • As far as ep 7-10 Lucas has always said he wanted to do them, hell the books are already out. Maybe with Lucas not being directly involved they won't suck major ass.

Mara Jade better be hot. And Grand Admiral Thrawn was an awesome villain.

    Trevor Barnes

  • There is no way this could possibly be out by 2015 unless it is horribly rushed and awful.

This project will go through about 25 scripts, about 8 different screenwriters, plus casting would take forever. Shooting and editing would take...more than forever.

    Formerly Blade Runner.

Tune into the Disney Channel if you want to see the candidates for the roles. You can bet the main characters will sing pop songs on the soundtrack.

lol I almost said that as a joke to tweak Star Wars purists when I started the thread. I had only seen a blurb that said they were buying Lucasfilm and the price.

The meltdowns after these will be epic, as those that were kids in the late 70s/80s, and those that were kids in the late 90s/00s, unite together to complain about how the new movies suck ass compared to the ones that came out when they were kids.

I really like the Star Wars movies, but I could care less if Han shot first or if Anakin sucks as an actor.
