As far as ep 7-10 Lucas has always said he wanted to do them, hell the books are already out. Maybe with Lucas not being directly involved they won't suck major ass.

I did a quick google search and only found results based on the movie...what is the title of the book series for the 7-9 films?

    Here ya go... http://www.wfaa.com/news/business/176474321.html

Disney is buying up everything... They own ABC, ESPN, Pixar, Marvel and now Lucasfilm. I gotta give them credit they pretty much are viewed as a company with entertainment for kids and families but their latest purchases show they really want to own the entire market from little kids to teenagers and everything in between.

I joked about The Disney Channel being a preview of the actors for the next Star Wars movies, but to be fair, they've really been increasing their action flicks over the past decade and don't really Disney-fy them. The National Treasure or Marvel movies could just as easily have come from any studio, and if not for the famous ride, so could the Pirates' movies.

    MiamiSpartan

  • They can make more Star Wars movies, just so long as Lucas isn't a lead writer or director for them (basically can't have most of the creative control). He didn't really know what he was doing for Episodes 1-3, and there wasn't anyone else involved in those projects to set him straight.

For George Lucas only other buyer may have been Apple but Jobs sold Pixar (Toy Story) to Disney when they wanted Pixar's computers and became Disney's largest stockholder. Lucas Films has always been heavy users of computer generated films.

The sale makes sense for both companies and at 68 George Lucas might as well cash in. Guessing Disney also gets the rights and royalties for the Star Wars franchise. Disney will do okay with Mickey, Minnie, The Toy Story bunch and now Star Wars. 3 high value licensing franchises.

Business Insider said it best ."George Lucas just made $4.1 Billion without any venture capital money."
