Disturbing news on the Asian Carp in Illinois River (SIU/MSU)

  • Close the GD canal!!!!

    My crazy liberal uncle says that there is no such problem and that it is just lies trying to smear Owebama who won't close his hometown canal.

    The Great Lakes are going to be f'ed is something isn't done now. The weak ass electical barrier isn't going to stop these damn fish and we are going to see the destuction of fishing in the Great Lakes.

    Damn, our government is a steaming pile.

    yep. and you know what's guaranteed to stop them? a big ass cement wall. That canal is worthless. close it for god's sake.

  • It's disturbing to say, since many people probably make a living fishing from the Mississippi... but they need to hit large areas of that river with rotenone and just kill everything and then re-introduce the native species once the water has been through proper detox. It's gotten that bad and that's eventually going to be the only way to stop it. Better to kill off parts and re-introduce than have to kill off the whole thing and re-introduce later.

    Sadly, the U.S. Supreme Court will let the Great Lakes go to shit while Michigan tries to file suit after suit. The Iron and coal cargo that travel through the canal (rarely) are more important to lawmakers than a bunch of fish. The American Waterways Operators was a big player in this case. Guess where they were founded? Washington, D.C. All you really need to know right there.
