Do the Pistons needs to fire Kuester?

  • Or clean house of malcontent players?

I can't tell if this article means Kuester is a tyrant, or Stuckey is a bitch. Maybe both.

When one or two players have an issue, it's probably the players. When all of them have issues, you gotta think it's the coach. Kuester needs to go.

Evidently Mr. Ringo's an educated man. Now I really hate him.

  • You could make a pretty good case for canning him just based on their record the last two years. But what message are you sending to the malcontents, then? "If you bitch enough, you'll get the coach fired"?

  • Both. I don't know where the original suck tumor originated from, but the suck has metastasized to the point where the whole organization is ridden with suck.

No, they need some players, and a better GM than Dumars. Right now the players feel they can do what they want and Dumars will back them up.

Dr Opti, providing wisdom;one message at a time.

  • Both. Just clean house and start over with some of the young players.

    Jim Lahey

  • Kuester is way out over his skis. He shouldn't have been hired, and he proves that point on a daily basis. Good assistant. Not a head coach.

  • how many coaches have we fired in less than 3 years recently? I certainly wouldn't want the job if I was a high profile NBA coach, it's a revolving door.

    goState18

  • The Pistons needed to hire Bill Laimbeer a long time ago.

I don't know what the problem is.

I think they need to clean house....however they need to get an owner first. Stucky would be one of the first to go.

Plus, NBA contracts, currently really make it hard to clean house. That may change....soon.

I kind of think Stuckey is a B**** and Kuester is weak. Remember, when Kuester was an assistant with Detroit, and the players loved him, as head coach they don't respect his authority.

If the NBA allowed it, I'd keep Gordon, Monroe, Bynum, Jerebko, and Daye. I'd outright get rid, cut, buy-out, trade, force into retirement whatever Hamiton, Stuckey, Wallace, Villanueva, McGrady, Maxiell, and Wilcox, and give Prince, Summers and White the choice.

A lot...too many. However, I think when the Pistons are sold, it won't matter.

I'd say screw it and take Derrick Williams. I think he's the most exciting and ready to contribute player in the draft. I'd try to trade back into the first to get a developmental PG who can you can teach to defend the perimeter and distribute...someone like Reggie Jackson of BC.

I'd go with Williams at SF/PF, Monroe at PF/C, Jerebko (if healthy) at SF/PF, Gordon at SG, and Bynum at PG...with Daye, Reggie Jackson, White/Summers/Bunch of cheap stiffs rounding out the bench next year.

You won't win 30 games with that line-up, but you'll start to develop guys and maybe bring some hunger and excitement back to the Palace. Maybe, one draft later, the Pistons will be on to something.

Laimbeer vs. the current roster would certainly cause some sparks to fly.

  • I don't think a coach exists who could do much with such a hodgepodge roster. But Kuester certainly isn't the long term answer. Until they get a new owner and dump the malcontents, any coaching change is pointless.

  • White? Really?!? What did he do other than breaking his leg? He is a great talent!

Keepers: Monroe, Jerebko, Daye, even Wilcox for cheap. Maybe summers if he takes the minimum. I would keep stuckey too, but he needs a leader and a coach!

    You are far from right.

I generally agree with your analysis here.

Q has, unfortunately, proven himself to be a pretty inept coach on a number of levels. In particular, his completely unpredictable rotations this season have done the team no favors. Also, his playcalling in end-game situations has been lackluster.

That said, the behavior of players has been despicable. I don't know wtf Stuckey is smoking, but he is not nearly good enough nor accomplished enough to pull this kind of shit (not that I like seeing good/accomplished players being divas, but at least they have some sort of leverage). Stuck has been mediocre. I hope he leaves in free agency. The last thing we need is him continuing to poison the locker room.

Also, this team just needs to be sold. The ownership situation has killed any chance they have had to make needed changes for at least the last year.

    voodoochile

  • Everyone is overreacting. They don't need to fire anyone. Just as soon as Iverson leaves, the Pistons will start winning in no time.

  • Kuester hasn't played the hand he's been given very well and that should result in a coaching change. The roster is an odd mix of under-performing role players, over the hill veterans, a few long-shot youngsters with some promise, and malcontents. The too-old crew has to go, and the malcontents and role players really need to shopped on the market to both clean some house and raise the talent level. This of course is reliant on having a GM who has shown he's capable, and unfortunately Dumars is on a stretch where he needs to go as well. A new owner really needs to clean our the entire basketball-side of the operation.........
