Does LeBron Get A "Pass" If Heat Go Down?

  • faygo said...

He's not that kind of guy. Those guys + Bird would thrive on the pressure. James doesn't look like the same player in the tight spots.

I think he would have gotten a pass if he had some humility and grace about him, but with the spectacle TV announcement, the move from Cleveland, and the mouthing off about counting titles he hadn't won yet, he's never going to get a pass.

It's blasphemous to even mention LBJ in the same breath as Jordan, Magic, and Bird. None of those guys...and I mean NONE...were afraid of failure like Prince James is. A major reason why all three have multiple rings and Prince Boy has....ZERO!!!

You almost had a +1. LBJ is an incorrect reference as well. I hate when that is used for him.

Can you imagine how much shit LeBron would be getting if him and Wade switched their game 3 stats? ESPN talked about Wade's shitty game for less than 5 minutes; half of Sportscenter would be about LeBron if he had scored 5 points last night.

LeBron is a huge tool and I want the Heat to lose every game they play, but the shit he gets is ridiculous.

I agree but I think when you come into the NBA and talk about how you are the "chosen one" the "king" and all this shit. You go out and have the "decision". You bring all this on yourself. Think about Nietzel. I wouldn't call drew a "great player" or an elite player. But look back to his junior year against Wisconsin. Both games were games that pure talent wise we really shouldn't have won but Drew kept us in that game (though walton quietly had a GREAT game in the first meeting). Drew stepped up big and others did the same under his leadership. Lebron doesn't have that.

I remember an interview once where Lebron literally said he doesn't want to take the last shot in a game. Look at the lakers/thunder game a few days ago the Lakers had a shot at the win and Kobe took it without hesitation.

The first time MSU basketball aired in France the French surrendered to Tom Izzo just to be safe.

LeBron needs to channel his inner Jordan/Kobe/Magic/Duncan etc. and carry the team on his back.

    But I doubt he can.

He doesn't have any of that to channel.

Are you really comparing the performance of a player in a regular college conference game to that of a player in an NBA playoff game? This could be among the worst comparisions I have ever seen on this board.

You do realize that LeBron stepped up big and others did the same under his leadership 100's of times in the regular season over the 8 years.

Steve Blake took that shot, not Kobe. Metta World War passed the ball to Blake and not to Kobe,.who hasn't hit a big time playoff shot in 6 years.

Yeah...I have to agree with ya and I'm so old school to where when I see LBJ my first thought is Lyndon Johnson, not Lebron James. So I think I'll stick with Prince "The Frozen One" James instead. Better?

He wasnt always a playoff choker. He made a number of clutch shots vs Washington and Detroit (I know everyone remembers game 5) to name a few.

I wonder what happened to him. I would love to see a game through his eyes and get to understand his thought process late in games.

    Much appreciated. thumbsup

It bugs me for several reasons, but mostly because his initials are LRJ.

I don't think he has an inner Jordan/Kobe/Magic/Duncan.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

He had a few decent games and one spectacular one against Detroit. In that game, it seemed like everyone on the floor was so surprised that they all just watched him (Detroit and Cleveland). Another thing to remember is the expectations for the Cavs were not great at the time, after that season expectations were sky high and LeBron's balls shrunk proportionally (though his ego swelled)
Opponents raised there game and LJ just doesn't have the drive to rise above. Like said above, the Heat is the poster child for all that is wrong with the NBA and Lebron and his "Decision" are the face of the franchise.

With Chris Bosh out does LeBron James get a "pass" if the Heat goes down to the Pacers, or does he get hammered just as much for not winning a title again this year?

The real culprit on this team is Pat Riley. The Lakers and Boston were both over the salary cap when the won their championships. I have not looked at the Spurs payroll this year but I would be shocked if they are under the cap. Miami's bench is atrocious. That is on Pat Riley. The penalties for being over the cap don't stiffen for 2 more years, I think. No reason the Bulls, Clippers, Spurs, Thunder all have better bench players than the Heat. He thought he could just ride the big 3 to championships, guess he never considered injuries.

You must not be talking about OK City and LA game 3 because Blake took the last shot.

  • HELL NO he don't get a pass if the Heat go down. It is a waste of his talent for him to not have a ring yet. He is so far above and beyond the next best player in the NBA. The people that want to compare him to Jordan should just stop with the comparisons because whats Lebrons excuse? He has his Pippen in Wade and throw in another all star in Bosh, but still cant seem to get the job done. There is absolutely no reason they should be down 2-1 to the Pacers. People can make an excuse about Bosh being out, but lets be honest with ourselves, the Heat still have 2 of the top 4 players in the league on the court at the same time and still cant seem to get it right. To see Wade get in Erik Spoelstra face yesterday was a sign of a team in turmoil. Get ready for Pat Riley to become the coach next year if the Heat don't win the championship. He is the only coach that seems to be able to right the ship in Miami when things go bad. Lebron does not have that killer instinct that Jordan had. I cant believe its taking Lebron so long to win a championship in todays NBA.

I know i am going to get slammed for this, but LeBron doesn't deserve half the shit he gets. I despised the way he handled leaving Cleveland, not that he left Cleveland, but other than that he seems like a stand up guy who is a master at his craft.

IMHO, more of the blame should fall on Wade...who is a dick and deserves more heat than LeBron.

    As you should be…

Just a little annoyed at how everyone only seems capable of focusing on one individual factor (albeit a big one) in basketball.

That's just it...with Jordan, he was the leader of the team - the player that mattered most to the team. Jordan maximized his God given abilities and became more than just a player.

Lebron wants to be thought of more than just someone putting up numbers because of abilities he was born with. He wants to be the important player that Jordan was...the charismatic leader that Jordan was.

Not happening...not sure he can ever be that type of complete player.

I totally agree with you, Lebron don't have that vocal leadership in him at all and neither does Wade. Yes there bench is terrible but its pointless to have good players on the bench when you have 2 players in Wade and Lebron that dominates the ball so much. Chris Bosh seems like a bum because they dont really give him a chance to be the player he was in Toronto. I wish Bosh would come to Detroit so we would let him be the superstar he is. In todays sports Lebron will get all the blame because how great he is. If you put all the Pacers players on eachother shoulders they still wouldnt be as good as Lebron and thats why he gets all the blame. Yes its a team sport but thats only when you dont have 3 superstars on your team.
