Does your hatred for U-M extend to the olympics?

When I'm watching the Olympics, if the announcers talk about a specific athlete having ties to U-M, I find myself rooting against them.
Examples: Michael Phelps (mainly cause he's a doucher), and the men's gymnast that just bit it on the high bar. Anyone else?

I wanted Lochkte (sp?) to beat Phelps, but overall I always cheer for the Americans no matter what.

Phelps was a rent-a-Wolvie-- dropped out in his sophomore year and only went there to train with Bowman. Can't really hate on the gymnast since we don't even have a men's gymnastics program. What I DO hate on is Brandon's touting the "Olympics tradition" of U-M.

Not usually. They are representing our country, not Michigan.
As for mens gymnastics, MSU doesn't have a men's team so it's kind of hard to have any rivalry with the Michigan team.
BTW, almost all the Men come from or partipate in College programs unlike the women. The B1G is usually well representated with OSU, Michigan, PSU and Illinois usually sending someone.
The women not so much, there's more money in going pro. It does happen. The disappointing 2000 team was lead by a girl who ended up competing at Michigan, and a couple more that Ended up at UCLA

Earvin dropped out after his sophomore year, so that criteria for dislike is weak. Being a wolvie-douche is reason enough.

These days, if anybody involved in any sporting event took a shit in a walverine crapper, Brandon and the stooges will somehow take credit for it and describe it as SCum affiliation.
But with the Olympics, it's hard to get any enthusiasm going anyways. Every 4 years they gather all the crappy sports that people don't watch on ESPN and fool people into caring. Well I'll temper that a bit, I likely would watch bb gun shooting if it was on ESPN.

Yup, this is what I mean. I'm going to root for Americans first, but if I have a choice between someone who has an affiliation with U-M and some one who doesn't, I want the non-wolverine to win. If that makes me petty, then so be it.

When the particular athlete is touted more as a U-M athlete than an American athlete, yeah I have a stirring of dislike that happens in my gut.

I rooted for Phelps in 2008 because I like to root for U.S. domination. But now that we have a swimmer (Lochte) who's now better than Phelps, doesn't have UM ties and doesn't appear to be a douche, that is soooooooo much better.

I wanted Phelps to win the silver behind Lochte and he fucked it up. That dooshbag finished 4th. I was really rooting for Phelps to win silver in this event.
