Drake Harris: 'I Fit Somewhere Else'

  • Raytooth Morgan said...

I think the person that disappoints me most in this whole thing is Drake Harris coach. When the kid came to him and told he was decommitting and asked him to call coach D the answer should have been flat out NO. Tell him he needs to be man enough to make that call and if he needs support he will be there with him. It boggles my mind that the Coach just made the call.

Definitely a case of the inmates running the asylum. For all the complaining the CHS people have done about Mr. Harris being an ass at the games, they certainly have some on the coaching staff(s) that are more than willing to let the act the fool. Probably afraid that he'll transfer or something, so they just bend over.

Well judging by level of talent being brought in I would disagree. Apparantly Drake does as well

Even you should be able to see the irony in the fact that this is exactly the same thing you all were saying when Dick Rod was there, even though you guys like to pretend those years didn't really count and we "brag" about beating those terrible teams. You're forgetting, though, you lot have always bragged about how awesome you are preseason and through September, as well as how highly rated your players and recruiting classes are. You've always had a September Heisman you're cheering for and talking mad smack about. Rich Rod years were no exception, your chests were puffed out and you were sure you were going to manhandle "Sparty" based on talent/ recruiting alone.

    Sound familiar?

You've always recruited well...but your teams have not infrequently sucked.

Now it's different though, right? You guys really, like... really, super duper mean it this time, right?

Yeah, that was pretty fucking weak, man. I'm sure they have developed a relationship and you can't even call the man yourself. Drake will be welcome in Spartan Stadium..I'm sure.

I am sure you'll agree that UM v. VT belongs in the "not" side of the column.

I think everyone agrees that he should go to whatever school that he wants to. People have a problem with the way that he chose to do the whole thing. He doesn't need to take shots at a program that he wanted to commit early to at one point. He chose to do it like a b****. Not even having the stones to call the coach himself.

He can run his recruitment however he wants to, and I don't begrudge him success and going where ever he feels most comfortable. But when you do your business like a jerk, you can expect that people are going to give you the business like a jerk. He is reaping what he sowed.

So because a 17 year old kid acted like a jerk, you seriously think it's ok for adults to act like a jerk to him?

Good for you to show your class and maturity.

When my then ten year old pushed my then 7 year old off the dock at our cabin on memorial weekend into very cold water and started laughing when the then 7 year old came up crying I walked up to the then ten year old and threw her off the dock. I thought a valuable lesson was learned, but maybe it wasn't. I admit I'm not very classy. At the same time, he's not my kid so I'm not concerned. I actually hope he goes to Michigan. First because although he's very good I don't see anything that tells me we can't handle it and, like after the Mike Hart comment, Dantonio has shown he can really get the team to play with a chip on their shoulder. That kid has no idea what he's done to create focus for that game when he's on the field.

Last time I checked this is a message board with an open forum. So, who exactly is acting like a jerk TO HIM? People are simply stating their opinions on a board to vent, not actually attacking him personally.

Furthermore, I am so sick of people using the excuse that he shouldn't be criticized because he's a kid. Some of the kids today are so soft and have minimal morals because parents and mentors are too busy protecting them from failure and criticism.

Drake can go wherever he wants, it's his choice. But, hopefully someone is in his ear (parent/coach/mentor) teaching him the importance of doing things the right way and handling his business in a mature and respectful way. If it was my kid, he would have called the coach personally to decommit and thanked him for everything. Drake doesn't owe anyone an explaination, but he did owe coach D more than an indirect notification and shouldn't have slammed the program on the way out.

I love this unintentionally ironic typo...

It states exactly the opposite of the intended meaning.

What part of the last sentance in the post that I responded to do you need explainted?

And if DH doesn't make the call, which seems highly likely in this case, MD is left in the dark. I agree the recruit should have been man enough to make the call, but his coach calling MD can't possibly be the worst part of this.

My point, smart guy, was that no one is actually being a jerk to HIM personally by posting on a message board. If you can't handle the opinions and statements, don't read it, it's a choice. Just like you choose to be here, read statements, and respond, Mr. Harris can choose to ignore it and not read it at all.

I agree wholeheartedly with your second paragraph. This idea of giving the kid a pass on his behaviour is ridiculous.

Hopefully, he learns from this experience and treats the other coaches and programs recruiting him with more respect in the future.
