Not sure why the ADs are so opposed to an 8 team playoff. It would allow for all major conference champions to be rewarded, additional teams that are worthy, maintains national interest in all of the major bowls (unlike last years Sugar Bowl), creates a larger pot of money, and is only an extra game or two for four teams. I hope we get there someday.

Bender beat me to it. Way too sensible of a solution to be used by the NCAA. Why a committee cannot decide the teams I will never understand. It works just fine for that little basketball tournament in March.

I don't recall seeing any plan so simple but yet so fair. This is pure genious. So of course will go with the stupid plan. "As long as we can play in the Rose Bowl, we don't care about sensibility."

I think this is why I like jack' plan since it plays into the consideration of money and revenue, which not only keeps the current cash flow in place, but significantly enlarges the stakes with future games. Imagine detroit or indianapolis hosting the second round games..? that's another $20M dollar windfall right there with gate receipts and tv contracts. not to mention to get the northern states involved in the process and able to share in the revenue.

I don't think this would be possible with outdoor stadiums in the winter so it would almost have to be guaranteed to be inside a dome. but that's a small price to pay.
