I suppose you could argue for Earvin, Kirk Gibson, and one of the multiple Miller brothers/cousins back in 79. Plus with Gibby's dual sport status, one could argue for domination of 4 sports.

Three great choices, I think i would have to give it to green though. Not only was he the best player on the team but he was like a second coach on the court

Love the trip down memory lane. I was there in 85-86 and it was truly amazing. Pretty sure I had that poster for a few years after graduation but after several moves not sure what happened to it.
Hockey won the national championship and it looked like the rest of the Big 3 was ready for even better things.

I was born in 77 and my first sports love was the Tigers.
I didn't really get into other sports until 86-97ish and it was the NBA and NHL.
I didnt really become a college sports nut until high school.
That being said, I am very familiar with Skiles work in the NBA. I would LOVE to be able to see his old MSU games like the ones mentioned in the article. Very well written Jack!
Also, the debate between which one of these three is the best is one I could argue with myself for hours on and be no closer to a decision than I was when I started.

In 1986 Lorenzo White, Scott Skiles & Mike Donnelley all shared the MSU Alderton award for MSU Male Athlete of the Year.

Different spin, but how about Hollis/Izzo/Dantonio VS. Munn/Daugherty/Froddy Anderson in the late 50's. We were/are a powerhouse in both sports in these eras.
1957 you could go Walt Kowalcyck/Jumping Johnny Green/and ????
1958 was the year Bessone made his mark in hockey, but I do not know their best player from 57. No AA's
But Kowalcyck was #3 in the Heisman and Jumpin Johnny is a legend.
The two trio's of powerhouses first named in my post however is an interesting debate. One had a hand in creating our legacy....One has/is restoring.

I dont think the decision is to hard honestly. The answer is Draymond. Cousins and Krug were awsome, but Green was easily the most important player that MSU had this year.

Have to agree with this. Love all three, but Draymond had a transcendent year.
