Ever buy sport jerseys from China?

  • If so, what site would you recommend? I've never been a big jersey guy before but the prices from China are unbeatable. Less than $25 each shipped.

Not much MSU selection unfortunately, even though they have SCum, Iowa, and Wisky.

  • I looked a bit at this site. Never pulled the trigger. They do use PayPal so you're somewhat protected. From some of my research into these type places, the manufacturers have an 8 hour shift for the jerseys that are sold by "official" outlets. The other hours of the day they sell on the secondary market. Not 100% legit and you don't have the same quality control. But they are cheap.

  • Isn't that what most of the cheaper ones on eBay are? If so, then yes. I bought a stitched Cousins alt. jersey for like $30. It's bigger than I expected but everything else about it is great.

  • Aren't they all made in china?

Capt.Gingersnap, don't be angry with me.

  • I've got a few through a friend who buys them and then sells them on eBay for like 10 more than he paid. Sizing is sometimes inconsistent from what you ordered. They aren't always exactly what was in the picture. Little bit of a risk but for that cheap it can be worth it. I would feel bad if the real jerseys weren't made in the factory next door in China . You're getting ripped off either way you go

  • I ordered one from a place called JerseyChina.com, the recently changed their URL and I am not sure what it is anymore. The jersey was a throwback baseball jersey and it came back in pretty good shape. No visible defects and they stitched all the Mitchell and Ness tags into it so it looks legit. I would definitely order it again.

  • While my Cousins jersey is great, I bought a road Cabrera and it's kinda fucked up. The numbers on the back have some weird texture/defect to them. Fits great but a little weird. Also doesn't have the little numbers on the front but most road DET jerseys seem to be missing them.

  • My brother used to order jerseys from china. The last few he tried to get were confiscated by customs when they arrived here. He has stopped since then. They were pretty decent jerseys though

  • Not trying to be Debbie Downer but am I the only one that has a problem with this? When did buying illegal Chinese forgeries become acceptable? I realize the 'real thing' is expensive but you're taking money from US companies that have paid for licensing and rights to produce these. While the real jerseys are probably not made in the US either, the companies (M&N, Nike, Addidas, UA, etc) employ thousands of US citizens.

Little things like this add up to Billions of dollars in lost earnings for the US and transfers the money to China.

    Wells.

No, this is capitalism at it's finest.

  • Once, yes, off of eBay. It was a red wings throwback with the big D on it. I have no complaints about it at all. Looks and feels great.

We must have different views of capitalism.

I hope you create/invent/manage a product that someone copies and sends to a low wage economy for production. On the surface everyone views this as a victimless crime but the black market for forged products is known for funding other, larger illegal activities.

Im not sure why I'm getting so bent out of shape over this but it seems like a shitty thing to do. Maybe I need to have my morning coffee.

You are probably buying from a chinese guy that joined the taliban that graduated from michigan. Seriously, the drug cartels are branching into counterfeiting big time now and you might be funding their operations.

Never bought one, but that $28 Kirk Gibson Tigers jersey is calling my name...as is the $30 John Riggins Washington Redskins jersey....

Looking at a couple of other message boards, they mention this one. Most reviews from the random boards (other sports boards talking about cheap china jerseys) are good. The Kaline one is bad ass.

  • Because they don't pay licensing fees.

You may get your purchase unless customs intercepts the illegal goods.

Capitalism allows the free market to work everything out. You wouldn't have trademarks, licensing or rights to produce with out government intervention and regulation. The market should dictate that either these jerseys are not as high of quality as the $100 jerseys you can purchase from mlb.com (or wherever). If these jerseys are satisfying consumers at a lower price, well shit that's capitalism and the more expensive jersey sellers should either lower their price (capitalism) or use the government to shut down the competition (not capitalism).

The argument that someone is copying these jerseys I think is weak. IMO I think these are defect jerseys that are made in the same warehouse as the jerseys you buy in an American store. I am making a huge assumption, but I am guessing that the Nikes and Reeboks of the world are very aware of what is going on and figure it is better to try to sell these as "China Jerseys" than to bring them to America and sell them in an outlet store. I wouldn't be surprised if they get a cut or are selling them at cost to the "China Jersey" websites.

They are the same jerseys from the same factory except you are buying from nefarious groups.

That's my assumption as well. I wouldn't be shocked if most of these are made in the same factories. Of course that doesn't make it legal or right.

There is a term in living history called the 3-foot rule. If you can't tell that a stitch isn't authentic when you're standing 3 feet away, you're good to go. I wonder how well most of these jersey knockoffs do based on that rule.

Have you ever seen any of these? A lot of times the colors are off, and the quality of fabric used in the jersey (and name and number twill is also substandard). You can tell by looking at some of the jerseys that they aren't even using the right patches.

You get what you pay for I guess, and you also might NOT get what you pay for if customs confiscates it.

    They are 100% counterfeit.

I'm actually surprised that you seem to be condoning the purchase of these, since Fanatics, Inc. advertises on your site.

Capitalism acknowledges property rights, both tangible and intellectual, something the Chinese don't.
