TD's worth 6? Then hell yes. If you can get Rodgers, Brady, or Brees (who could be playing from behind a lot this season), you've almost got a guaranteed 300 yard performance every week. That's something you don't get out of Romo, Rivers, Cutler, etc. Just make sure you go RB in rounds 2 and 3 or else you might not get good starters. Wait on WRs.

Agree with this post. The picks in the first couple rounds are all about differentiating your team at a position. My league does 6 pts per TD, and 25 yards per point, here's the top 5 in points for the year: 1. Rodgers - 487.42 2. Brees - 484.64 3. Brady - 446.30 4. Stafford - 426.32 5. Newton - 413.34
There's a clear split between Rodgers and Brees, and everybody else, but there's also a HUGE split between those top 5, and the #6 guy. Eli Manning was number 6 at 342.82.
Tight end is another spot where there is a HUGE drop after the first 2. Last year Gronkowski had 240.9 and Jimmy Graham had 196.00, while nobody else had more than 136. I'm not saying to take those guys in the first round, but they are absolutely worth of a high pick if you think they'll come close to their numbers from last year.
At WR, Calvin Johnson had 48 more points than the next receiver (Jordy Nelson).
You can see the same thing at RB where Rice, Mccoy, MJD and Foster were well above everybody else. Personally, I'm staying away from MJD this year as the history of guys that sit out the pre-season isn't great.

Yeah I hate this argument that I have to draft WR's early as well (not that I love the RB class this year). I have brought this up before and it's only now becoming realized. WR is a dependent position. How else can anyone explain Steve Smith magically finding form with Cam Newton versus the Jake Delhomme era? When I draft any receiver, I try to make sure I trust the guy throwing the ball to him. It's why Jordy Nelson can have a big year and it's why I'm bullish on Brandon Lloyd.

Outside of Aaron Rodgers, would you take a QB in the 1st round? We are doing a 12 team PPR and this year QB passing TD's count for 6 points vs. the traditional 4. Picking at 7 good chance Brees or Brady is there. In the past I wait on taking a QB but last year it killed me with Cassel and Cutler as my QB's and then the waiver wire when they both got hurt. Would taking a QB in round 1 make sense now with the 6 points?

That's particularly the case this year. Everyone and their grandma is throwing for 4000-5000 yards. And some of the WRs widely considered elite for 2011 (Andre Johnson, Victor Cruz) I'm not that thrilled with. In my two 10-team leagues i didn't go WR until Round 4 and Round 5, and I'm fine with that.
