Father of 6th grader attacks coach after loss, bites off ear

  • This kind of stuff has to stop. This guy's kid is in 6th grade. They lose and the father attacks the coach.

What makes this serious is the game took place at Holy Name School in Springfield MA last Friday. In the fight the father bit off a piece of the coach's ear. He's in a Catholic school, its the Lenten Season. It was meatless Friday.

    He is in big trouble.

Dad beats up youth coach, then bites off part of his ear

A dad attacked a 6th grade basketball coach, then bit off part of his ear, after his son's team lost a game in Springfield, Mass.

  • It does not surprise me one bit. I had to break up at Fight at the Oakland County Middle School Wrestling Championships. It was between a parent and a coach. No punches where thrown but it was close. I just started a throwing out anyone and everyone that swore and escalated the situation in any way. And if they told me they weren't leaving I said the cops where already on the way (they weren't but it worked). Meanwhile the middle school kids are on the mat embarassed as hell by how the "Adults" are acting. Effing pitiful.

I was a 29 year old A.D. (lonnnng time ago) and an official was being heckled by a parent from the other school. I hadn't heard it as I was on the other side of the gym. Official blows his whistle, calls me to the scorers table, and says "Wags, this game doesn't go on till that guy is out of this gym". You guys have a hard enough time, just call the A.D. over, it's not your job. You did a great job by doing what you did, but the A.D. needs to step up at that point.

  • All these adults that pull this crap are basically trying to relive their "glory days" vicariously through their kids, or living the glory days they never had because they sucked. Pitiful and pathetic.

  • Parents are the reason I never helped out in coaching in our town. Even when I didn't think the coaches did a particularly good job, I never complained and ALWAYS thanked them with a gift card at the end of the season. Hope it made up the difference for the parents who were assholes.

I can't stand the parents who coach from the stands. It got so bad in my town that my wife and I didn't sit with the other players' parents during games - we literally sat on the opposite side of the gym. The coach confided with me before one game that he couldn't believe some people. I suggested to him to tell them to go to hell - I had no problem with that. So he called the parents in and flat out told them to STFU and no more coaching from the stands. Could have been a scene straight from Hoosiers. Lo and behold, that team turned out to be the best team in school history.

Even if the coach isn't the greatest, just try to remember it's not about you.

It's usually the parents that sucked and never sniffed their glory days

couldn't agree more: it's so GD sad........I think of their kids and how they are fucking them up beyond repair.......then they go on to do god knows WHAT later on: shoot up their workplace, kill someone in a road rage incident, etc.. Jeez it's getting out of control. Massachusetts seems to be oddly in the forefront. The hockey parents brawled there a few years ago too. Odd...........

In 1991, unemployed '60s refugee Jeff "The Dude" Lebowski (Jeff Bridges) grooves into his laid-back Los Angeles lifestyle. One of the laziest men in LA, he enjoys hanging with his bowling buddies, pompous security-store owner Walter Sobchak (John Goodman) and mild-mannered ex-surfer Donny (Steve Buscemi). However, the Dude's life takes an alternate route the afternoon two goons break into his threadbare Venice, California, bungalow, rough him up, and urinate on his living room rug. Why? Because Jackie Treehorn (Ben Gazzara) is owed money by the wife of a certain Jeff Lebowski. However, the goons grabbed the wrong Jeff Lebowski. With the right info, they would have invaded the home of philanthropic Pasadena millionaire Jeffrey Lebowski (David Huddleston). The Dude looks up his wealthy namesake, manages to get a replacement for his rug, and meets the millionaire's sexy young wife Bunny (Tara Reid). Later, Jeffrey ("The Big") Lebowski calls in the Dude to deliver a $1 million ransom for the return of his kidnapped wife. Fine -- except that Walter intrudes and botches the ransom drop. As events unravel, the Dude gets caught up in the schemes of Lebowski's daughter, erotic artist Maude (Julianne Moore), encounters both cops and bad guys, and drifts through an elaborate bowling fantasy sequence titled Gutterballs. The soundtrack includes Bob Dylan, Yma Sumac, Moondog, Captain Beefheart, and the Sons of the Pioneers. • Truly sad. Poor behavior by the parents is the reason I stopped officiating hockey and umpiring baseball. Jerks like this are the first to point out flaws in a youth coach but is the last, or should I say the one never willing to step up and be a coach. They would rather scream and holler and belittle a coach or official than actually do something.
