Lake city/Cadillac for hunting and fishing.
Petoskey for relaxing
The UP - Munising to Silver City for exploring, nothing beats Superior for me....

My family always goes to the Petoskey/Harbor Springs area. Its pretty low-key, but the beach is great.

hahah I'll be at the state park this weekend, but I'll be staying at my Grandma's place in Wolverine. Town isn't to great but the house is right down town, a block from the Sturgeon, mile from Silver Lake, 15 minute ride from Indian River and 30 minute drive from Petoskey. Plus I can go play 9 holes at Wildwood for $8

LOL, ......I know, and I know a burn is fantastic for new growth, just hope the refuge itself comes out okay and that it is stopped before widespread habitat destruction... :)

Great place to fish, if you find the right spots. Always been partial to Manistee, which hasn't been mentioned. Traverse is good if you beat the pretentious out-of towners. Some of the towns on the west end are great. There's a big hop farm near Empire, and its always great to have the smell of hops greet you on your way to watch the sunset. Also a great smoke shop in Cedar selling homemade sausage and the like. Most spots in the UP have been covered, but I will give a shout to Bony Falls north of Esky near Cornell. Actually got to watch bears on the shore while kayaking. Felt like I was in a nature film.

Going up to Harbor Springs myself this weekend. 10-15 minutes from Petoskey. The second pic has the Yacht owned by the Ford Family.

My parents have had a cottage on Lake Missaukee since '98. I love it up there. Spent many a summer fishing and boating and drinking on the sand bar.
