First reactions: Dark Knight Rises extremely positive

  • "The Dark Knight Rises has just finished screening for the press and critics, receiving a STANDING OVATION!!!" wrote "YouTube reviewer" Lauren Hiestand (@nickcarterroxs) on Twitter. Another fan, Tom McAuliffe (@tommcauliffe) added: "So much awesome … can't wait to see it again. And again. And 9 out of 10 for me. I'd put Amazing Spider-Man at a 7.5 and Avengers at an 8.5."

Edit: Added behind the scenes featurette

Assuming the blame for the death of DA Harvey Dent, the Dark Knight sacrificed everything for what he and Commissioner Gordon both hoped was the greater good. For a time the lie worked, as criminal activity in Gotham City was crushed under the weight of the anti-crime Dent Act. But everything will change with the arrival of a cunning cat burglar with a mysterious agenda. Far more dangerous, however, is the emergence of Bane, a masked terrorist whose ruthless plans for Gotham drive Bruce out of his self-imposed exile. But even if he dons the cape and cowl again, Batman may be no match for Bane. Directed By: Christopher Nolan Written By: David S. Goyer, Christopher Nolan, Jonathan Nolan, Bob Kane Cast: Christian Bale as Bruce Wayne/Batman Michael Caine as Alfred Gary Oldman as Commissioner Gordon Anne Hathaway as Selina Kyle Joseph Gordon-Levitt as John Blake Movie Trailers online: http://www.flicktrailers.com

I haven't enjoyed Football since Heath passed. :(

  • I feel like it could be a pile of trash and people will still like it because TDK was so good. I expect this to be BB level.

Pretttttty stupid post. Although it will be closer to BB in terms of feel.

But most critics who've seen it say it should even get a Best Picture nomination. Way to jump to conclusions.

I'm just saying TDK was pretty much the Joker movie and I'm skeptical a movie with just Bale can be anywhere near as good.

Just Bale? They've said Hathaway has the best performance of her career so far, and that Hardy isn't too shabby.

No one's gonna top Joker, but this is Bruce Wayne's movie, and his journey. I can't wait to see how it ends.

If you haven't seen trailers, bane is pretty much an effing badass. I think he will be on par with Joker.

I think it's gonna be great. But c'mon, Saying its gonna be good bc of Hathaway's best performance of her career is not saying much.

Her finest performance was in Love and Other Drugs.

This is what I'm thinking. Looking at the featurette, it looks awesome. They film in Steeler's stadium, and bring in a false field and blow it up. Also, they use hundreds of extra's and film in Wall Street. Nolan's going all out for the finale. I'm not a fanboy, but I like the fact he's not using CGI anymore than he has to.

I think they've shown it in a few previews, but bridges are a huge and unique character to Pittsburgh's area and downtown.

No legitimate critics have spoken about it because they aren't supposed to yet. Only fanboys who started a blog just so they could get in to press screenings are saying anything thus far.

This is the thing that is making Nolan one of the greats in film. He understands that CGI is a tool. That scene with the Semi in TDK was a miniature and made it look so much more inpressive. The rotating room scene in inception was a literal rotating room. Hopefully more people take notice. Watching one CGI thing fight another CGI thing takes away the whole humanity from the fight.

Uhh, dude... the semi in TDK was real. Not a miniature. They actually flipped that shit over.
