So i just checked online, and it says on msu.edu that campus tours and such are on Wednesdays and as I began scheduling one, they are not hosting any on the Wednesday I will be in town. Still think I should give them a call? Or out of luck?

Give them a call. I'm sure somebody would be willing to do it.

Isn't it spring break that week? The tours are (at least they used to be) given by students, so there might not be any around to do. Tours also used to be run through SAF, is that not the case anymore?

EDIT: Just dont want to call them and them say, "oh well if you check online we are only hosting on these Wednesdays"

Call. I'd be shocked if they didn't take care of a potential applicant coming that far just to check out MSU.

Hell, Hollis might show you around. (rumor Izzo is gonna be a little busy right around then. :D)

  • To the OP, that's awesome that it's your dream to come here. Always good to see our fanbase grow. What got you interested in MSU initially? A certain player or team?

Believe it was Mateen back in his hayday. Everyone around here asks me why i like State, since I have no ties, and I really don't have any pinpoint reason, but the earliest memory I have of watching sports is Mateen against Indiana in a Big Ten conference game.

  • Quite a few students post here. I bet you can find one who might help you out with a tour - or hell, even with a place to stay.

  • Gave them a call, they said what i figured, not available due to being on spring break that week. They told me to print out the self-guided walking tour, as one of the posters above mentioned.

  • Call the Student Alumni Foundation before they close today. (517) 355.4458 They are the group that runs the tours and they might happen to know if some of the tour guides plan on giving an unofficial tour that week. I used to do that all the time.

    MSU SAF | Welcome

Welcome to the Michigan State University's Student Alumni Foundation. We are the largest registered student organization on campus with an annual membership of over 6,000 students. The organization is run by 25 board of directors, 5 executive council members, and overseen by an advisor.

    Thanks

Don't read all the morons who post here. They can be very jaded and cynical.

Try hotels.com or one of those sites for a hotel. Understand that during Spring Break the campus will be empty and no events will be scheduled. You're more likely to see Spartan students in Indi for the Tourney than on campus that week. Unless you're VERY patient getting around Lansing will require a car, so if you have car in NC that might be a good reason to drive up.

Coming for a visit is a good idea. Some people on the RCMB already found some good rates. The weather in March can be all over the place. By late April spring is in bloom and by May it's starting to get a lot warmer. That's a nice time to visit too.

Know the program you want to study. After two years at CC you probably have a good idea. Contact that college and mention you want to talk with them about their program, maybe speak to some profs, and learn about the specific requirements. These people are usually happy to help, but they're likely closed up during Spring Break too.

Keep posting here with specific questions. It's a pretty good resource.
