For the minority that doesn't hate Valenti

  • From his facebook post:

MSU gagged a outright title away. Period. Had two shots to take it and simply failed. Loss of Dawson is a killer. Now where people are waiting for this "crying" or "excuse" train is beyond me. Also love UM fans mocking a team they tied with and NEEDED TO LOSE in order to do so. 3 titles in 4 years. 2 final fours. I mean...mocking that? Possible 3rd run to come? No wonder Dery,Terry and I do so much "clean up" around here. Oh and just so its official...basketball matters now right? Wanna make sure what the rules are.

    love it.

Then why was mike rooting for SCum in the tourney last year and that the committee thing he did w/ scum and MSU against O$U? Don't buy it.

  • I wouldn't say we choked away a title. @Indiana and OSU are very tough games. If the last two games were the NW and Illinois games that we lost earlier in the year, then that would've been a choke job.

    KamState

  • The one thing I disagree with is saying that UM needed MSU to lose. While technically true, it's disingenuous. UM played the most difficult part of their schedule earlier, while MSU played theirs later. Both teams ended up 13-5. If the situations were reversed, I certainly wouldnt say MSU "backed into" the title

    We didn't choke, we gagged.

  • Not a gag. We played two of the best teams in the conference while Michigan played against a dumpster fire of a team and a last place team coached by a guy who was at Holy Cross or some shitty east coach mid major last year. This was a Big Ten race where you had to wait until all the games had been played to really hash everything out.

I dont get your point. If Michigan had a one game lead and lost in the season finale therefore allowing Michigan State to have a tie of the title then yes that is backing into it.

  • Valenti used to bring it a lot stronger. His facebook commentary has fallen, hard.

MSU was favored to win in each of their last two games, don't make it sound like scUM didn't benefit from a nice little choke job

UM had a much easier schedule. they played most of the bottom half of the conference twice. they won a big ten title without winning @OSU, @MSU, @Wisc, or @IND

A much easier schedule? The only glaring difference I see is that they didn't play at Wisconsin

But to say they "allowed" UM to win the title is not really accurate. UM beat several good teams. The point is simply this. If UM has started with Iowa, Minny, Purdue, PSU, Nebraska, and MSU had started with OSU twice, Wiscy, Indiana, you wouldn't say oh MSU needed UM to lose. Arguably the only reason UM had more losses is because they had played a more difficult schedule earlier.

LOLWUT? Favored at home SLIGHTLY perhaps, but not against Indiana on the road. Do you even bother to know the stats before you post crap? MSU was the third top FIVE team to go down there this year. I hardly think they rolled into Bloomington "favored" for anything.

I never denied that I am a UM fan. That makes me a troll? I enjoy discussing sports with fans from other teams. I don't think you know what a troll is.

    GRR Spartan

  • I'm just glad to know that it's Valenti's fault, and not the team puckering under pressure.

Good to know with the Tourny coming up. I can't imagine why they'd be up for Senior Day, but if they're ready for a big game in Debuque, IA, we'll be just fine.

Okay UofM fan. UofM backed into the title because MSU didn't win their easy (easier) road games and couldn't win one of two to win it outright.
