Good to hear he told the truth from the start... And not to jump to any conclusions but, why is Derrick Nix driving a 2011 red Dodge Charger?

Not to jump to any conclusions but what a stupid question.

This. It's a solid automobile. Not too hard to finance either when you are paying nothing for college.

  • A down vote. lol. Hope your feelings are ok.

That wasn't me just so you know..

It's probably a friend or family members car... but dont tell me if Jordan Morgan got caught in a nice car, we wouldn't be thinking along the same lines. Sorry, but I doubt Derrick can afford a car like that on his own.

Maybe I've been watching too much of The Wire lately and think the mother co-signer is always a scam lol

  • Why are people so hung up on the 2011 Dodge Charger? You can buy one of those for like $20k.

It's not like he was driving a Corvette.

It's definitely a valid question. Even if he can pay for it using legitimate non-agent funds, it's generally best for appearances to drive something a bit more modest.

A Dodge Charger is about as flashy as a Chevy Malibu.

No. What's best for appearances is to run a clean program. Which we do. Never a shred a evidence that MSU players have taken improper benefits. Amazing what you can afford when 100k+ of school, food, insurance and the like are being covered by the school.

That was my point i guess which may have been misread. Just doesn't look great when your athletes drive brand new cars. Would make any logical person suspicious

  • So if a smoke a joint at at 10pm cops can still smell it 3 1/2 hours later?

Really? A logical person would look at the whole of Tom Izzo/MSUs program and become suspicious that some player(s) are not on the level? Interesting use of logic.

It did say there was still a blunt in the visor, which the officer confiscated

  • The Dodge Charger is going to get mentioned in the same vein as the SUV involved when Cleaves was in that crash on the UM recruiting visit. A kid with a single mother comes out of inner-city Detroit public schools to drive a relatively new car with a $20k price tag. And his credit score isn't exactly going to make him a prime candidate for credit for a purchase or lease. I'm not suggesting it's right, but get ready for the whispers and be sure some reporter will look into who owned the vehicle and how it was purchased........

Why is it that when people start a sentence with "not to jump to conclusions, but..." that's exactly what they do?

It's sort of like "No offense, but the OP is a moran."

  • Honestly, he had a joint with him and was apparently 100% honest about the whole situation. He has smoked a joint a few hours before so although he still had it in his system there is no proof that he was high while driving. This is a mistake, but worse ones have been made. If this is the 1st incident, he'll get community service of 40 hours in a diversionary program, his license will be restricted or suspended for a while and his insurance will go sky high.

As far as team consequences go, Izzo needs to have some consequences for him, but kicking him off the team should not be on the table unless there are other similar incidents we don't know about. My thought would be no captaincy, run a ton, and maybe miss a few games.

Seriously?? This place is such a fricking trip.

These kids are saving, what - $20K/year on school thanks to their scholarships? You probably would have been driving a decent ride too if you were going to college for free.

IIRC, Lucas and Allen got into a crash, and we're both driving shitty cars. No offense to Nix, but if Lucas and Allen were driving beaters, I'm not worried.

  • No where in the article does it say the car is owned by Nix. It could easily be a friends or relatives. Even if it's not like others have said it is a 20k car that you can probably lease for like 200 a month.

So now we're speculating on what kind of credit score Derrick Nix and/or his family has simply because he went to high school in Detroit?
    lol

Obviously he's a drug dealer who probably stole the car. I mean... just look at him.

The price of this vehicle is below the average price of 2011 vehicles. Whispers will only be made by those that are idiots or have malicious intent.

The only thing curious here is the number of people that think a 2011 Dodge Charger is a flashy expensive brand-new car.
