    It's the best offense ever.

Oh. Then GT will never fire him.

    Because Miami isn't.

    They are a 6-6 team.

Yup. Miami banned itself from postseason play again, and holds the tiebreaker to UNC, even if they beat Maryland this week. They lost to Middle Tennessee earlier this year.

It's not going to happen so i won't spend a lot of time arguing it, but I'll just say that the offense is NOT why Paul johnson is going to be fired.

His defense sucks, and he doesn't have the athletes to run his offense. So, that's a problem.

I think the expansion was more to expand B1GN reach to HUGE markets in DC/MD area and to give the shaft to ND. Delany is like a jilted lover who says, "If I can't have you, ND, I will make sure no one can".

Now i am very certain, FSU will be gone soon, most likely to SEC or B12. Clemson too. East coast shitty teams are fucked. And so is ND id FSU and Clemson leave. Who wants to play UCONN (which will be the most likely add), probation riddled U, and crappy UNC and duke in football every year

The SEC won't take FSU or Clemson. The whole point of expansion is to become more geographically broad to get more TV viewers within your footprint. The SEC already has Florida and South Carolina locked up.

  • Georgia Tech is in Atlanta and Atlanta leans Georgia more than GT. GT doesn't have a huge base, but if BTN is on in Georgia markets that's all that matters.

Big Ten is becoming a fucking halfway house for some of these institutions that want out of their current situations.

  • I would much rather have GT over Rutgers.

  • Wrong conclusion on your part. Grabbing Ga. Tech brings greater exposure in the state of Georgia and would be a terrific move. The rust belt isn't growng and high school football in the region isn't keeping up with the rest of the country. This expansion is all about improving the conference recruiting base and getting ino Georgia would be ideal.

Rumors floating around that GT desperately wants to join the B1G too. IMHO this would be a terrible move if it happens. GT bring nothing other than good acedemics. GA market is dominated by UGA and SEC schools, they are terrible in football and basketball, and have one of the lowest student-athlete graduation rates. I also don't want to see gimmicky triple option every week

You may want to rethink your opinon.

The ACC is the new Big East. The old Big East is the new MAC. The old MAC is the Big East Leaders Division.

I think Delaney will poach two more ACC teams. He is trying to neuter the ACC and Big East. I think he will also love to see Notre Dame get screwed by making the ACC irrelevant in the end for not joining.

I think this is the end game that Delaney is still angling for. Guessing he believes that the inevitability is to move to 4 conferences with 16 teams; then break from the NCAA and 'have-conferences' keep the money to themselves. He's trying to set up the chess board to make a break up of the ACC inevitable and leave a single slot open in the Big Ten for the potential to have ND land there as a full member. It further marginalizes the Big East to the point it can't compete effectively for a top four playoff spot. This is like a mercy killing at this point for the Big East.

IF you play out how to get there either the ACC or the Big 12 has to implode. What parts of those two conferences are most attractive for TV and which has network allies who are pro-Big Ten (or least aligned with ESPN)?

Someone else posted that FSU, Clemson and Miami could still get cold feet. Is there enough football passion if you lose two of those three plus Maryland to out compete the BIg 12 as the chosen fourth?

Guess you could still end up with some 5 of 6 conference aspects but why does teh PAC 10, SEC and Big Ten want to keep giving access and sharing revenue with schools who are not investing nearly as much skin in the game?

This will make an interesting Harvard business review article on strategy and game theory in 20 years.

  • I think Clemson and FSU are the next dominoes to fall. Neither has ever been a good fit for the "tobacco road-basketball first" mentality of the ACC and both have the resources to be attractive candidates for one of the new super conferences. I'm sure both would prefer to get into the SEC, but would take an offer from any of the majors.

The rumored replacements for the ACC don't look good. UConn, East Carolina, Central or South Florida, are not going to improve the league.

As long as they have Duke and UNC, the ACC will always be major in basketball, but they are soon going to be left out in the cold in the new world of college football.

  • I hope we add Georgia Tech and North Carolina.

It is all about TV markets and recruiting territory. Both of those states produce a lot of talent, and will bring in a ton of money.

Fuck Notre Dame, let them go running to the B12 when the dust settles...or let them stay in a neutered ACC, I don't GAF which they choose.

ND can only bring the B1G more money at this point, but the B1G schools will be the highest paid regardless of whether ND joins or not. So, it's onto someone who can expand our recruiting footprint...and, of course, the punitive measure of watching ND get screwed.

Switch UNC with FSU and I agree.

It's not about tv markets it's about statepeducation table deals are negotiate at the rate level, not the market. The BIG money maker for the BIG ten is the monthly fee charged to each cable or satellite provider per subscriber. Outside the Big Ten footprint, it's only 10 cents a month. Inside the footprint it climbs to $1.10. Florida and Georgia are the two most populace states left with schools thst make any sense. That is more money and more talent. In this new era go big or go home.

  • Ton of Big Ten alums here. Big Ten Pub Crawl drew nearly 2k people. Expansion is based on football and GA is #6 state for NFL talent. Coach D told me he only plays in two golf tourn with ours being one of them. Very important recruiting area, already have four players from here. Lastly, ATL top ten TV market.
