Gholston vs. Lewan

  • I can't believe a minute long video has been built up that big over at mgoblog. You've got to be kidding me. Lewan even gets beat at a few points where he's supposedly owning Will.

That is a weak, weak fan base. They can't handle losing to us so often. They're all slowly losing their minds looking for any shred of evidence to suggest they are better than us. Pathetic.

  • Both are really good players, and that was, and will be this year, the highlight matchup of the game. If every snap of last years game is shown in that video, you are gonna see highlights, and lowlights for both players. Dont let some douche who compiled a lopsided video get you guys too worked up. As a uofm fan, I dont use that site much anymore. There are some good articles, but as far as the "bloggers", I cant handle it, too much koolaid going on there. Looking forward to playing you guys this year more than I have since lloyd left. Not so much as the 4 in a row thing, as I believe the winner will control there own destiny to the B1G CCG. Its us or you imo

  • It is very, very sad that they are putting together spun videos where less than half the plays are shown and many require ignorance of the game to buy "owning".

What's the point? Are they trying to ease their past and anticipated butthurt for the next 4 months by suspending disbelief that our "best" defender was "owned" thus they are going to win?

    Again, sad.

It's nice seeing another UM poster who can take off the blue shades. I've seen some pretty reasonable posts out of you, and I'm with you on whoever wins that game gets in the fast lane to the CCG.

  • That was one of the more useless videos I've ever watched. Gholston was playing weakside contain on Denard the entire game. We didn't want to sack 'Nard, we wanted to make him throw the ball.

If Lewan was so good, why were 99% of the running plays/rollouts away from Lewan? (who was holding and grabbing the facemask, "dirty" plays, every single snap in that video) Show the 10 plays where Denard got faceplanted and the widdle baby got his facemask turned, pussies.

  • I thought Will really got better after the one game suspension. After the ND game, I thought he was still a year away. He did ok against UM, but nothing spectacular. No big deal, he was a true sophomore. Then came the suspension. He came back like a man possessed after that. He got better and better, and he was unblockable against UGA. After spring and summer in the weight room, he will beast this fall. I don't really care what is on that video. Will is not the same player he was last October. Not even close.

    Its five o'clock somewhere.

Haha. No, but those bumble bee uniforms were just as ugly as they were last year.

Or did it include rushing stats and sacks?

Yesterday someone posted a pic from the UM Women's day. One coach was teaching in front of a PowerPoint screen and behind him was a bboard that had each game of the 2011 season and several categories such as "turnovers" and "win" dotted with UM helmets for ones they won. I noticed that the game against MSU was awfully bare compared to most others..

  • Rooting for Lewan and hating Gholston is like rooting for Hitler and hating Jesse Owens. Unfortunately, I mean that literally.

MSU is the school most responsible for tearing down the race-barrier in college football in the 50's-60's. UofM, on the other hand, has a proudly racist offensive linemen ... in 2012!

Good thing they included the B1G Championship game, I wonder where the stickers are for that one.

  • Aside from the fact that "proof" is cherry-picking a handful of snaps where Gholston didn't happen to be raising hell in the backfield, he slips past Lewan fairly easily on a few of those plays. They couldn't even fill up their minute-and-a-half-long video with snaps where Gholston didn't beat his man, and had to choose the least-embarrassing times that he did.

  • The proper way to defense S'Lace is to NOT rush up field. The point of the front 4 is to keep him in front and contain. This is the entrire reason STATE has handed S'Lace is worst performances. STATE wants him to throw, shit, any D should. The last thing you want to do is flush him outside. Any Dend facing this offense should never rush up field. Stand and read is what is needed playing a run first QB that has obvious problem throwing the ball. You only want your smaller, speedy defenders in the backfield against this cat.

You can follow the UM 247 discussion here. Kind of hilarious how 2 groups of people can have completely different viewpoints on the same set of films.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • According to their fans, the unanimous opinion is that denard will beat us this year because he is a senior and he is ready to run wild.

There just isn't a facepalm big enough. He had two years and didn't get beat, he got DESTROYED in both of them because defenses figured out how to stop him from doing exactly that. Stop his feet, stop the UM offense.

Their fans predicted wins in each of the last 3 years and look what happened. It won't help them this year either, haha. This might be the best MSU defense Dantonio has had.

MSU held Michigan to 2.3 yards/rush (36/82 yards), and had 7 sacks. I didn't see any running plays in the clip on the M board that went right at Gholston. Not sure how anyone can say that Lewan dominated Gholston. If Lewan is that dominant of an OT, they should be running plays behind his blocking.

  • Hold, hold, hold, facemask, hold, facemask, hold, good block, hold, hold, facemask, facemask, Gholston gets through, hold, facemask, Gholston punching the bitch in his throat (oddly enough they left out Lewan pinning him to the ground by his facemask), hold, hold, facemask.

Think that about covers Lewan's highlight reel.

I put this on the UM board, but I watched that through a couple of times. I didn't see plays run towards Gholston at all. The first one has the RB going left . . . and then he cuts back at the LOS, away from Gholston. After that, it's roll-outs away from Gholston, quick straight drops, and running plays either up the middle or away from WG.

Seriously, is my memory fading and I missed a snap where they either ran or rolled out towards Gholston?

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.
