I started a huge thread on this on the old board. I started a lot of huge threads on the old board. Oh the memories.

I'll contribute.

My family moved to the current family homestead when I was around 3 years old. Upon arriving, our dog was going crazy digging in the bath tubs, barking at the fireplace, running around the house, etc. Just being really unusual. Apparently she never did those sort of things at my old house. We ended up putting that dog down.

My father traveled a lot and usually was only home on the weekends, leaving my mother to take care of older brother and myself.

One night my mom woke up in the middle of the night to what she thought was a man and another dog in the doorway of her bedroom. My parents had a water bed at the time and my mom remembers feeling the dog run up onto the bed and start biting at her. She started yelling at the man to get the dog off her bed and to get the hell out of the house. My mom was kinda in that half sleep/half awake stage so she just thought it was some sort of a dream and didn't think anything of it until the next morning.

My mom was making breakfast the next morning and she went to go wake me up. I usually slept pretty late as a toddler and to her surprise I was already wide awake when she came in. I promptly asked her "Where did that man go?" "What man!?!" my mom replied. I told her that it was a really nice old guy with a dog and I had apparently been talking to him for a long time. Well, needless to say my mom freaked out and ran around the house looking for signs of a break in, checked our alarm, etc. No luck. She was freaking out. Since this incident, a lot of other things started happening - doors would shut randomly, my mom heard footsteps, someone in the kitchen messing with the dishes, hear someone walking up and down stairs, etc.

So she called our neighbors and told them what happened. They thought my mom was crazy and instantly called the husband/wife who used to live in the house. They laughed at us too until it dawned on them that it was the husbands father who recently passed away before they had moved. Apparently that guy always came to visit that house with his dog. It all started to make sense as to why my dog was going crazy all the time.

The guy told us to write a note on our table one night giving the ghost (his dad) directions to his new house in Indianapolis. My parents did it, and we never saw the ghost again.

Apparently I used to be in our family room and my dad would be eating popcorn or something - I would just start yelling at my dad to share the popcorn with the ghost. When the ghost wasn't around anymore, I guess I always asked my mom where he went. My mom would say he went to work with my dad and I would flip out saying that "the ghost didn't want to go to work!!"

I always had something about a ghost in the back of my mind until I was in like 7th grade when the story somehow came up. I had forgotten about it. (I mean I was only 3 or 4years old when this was happening). I know, its a lame story but they say children have an easier time "seeing the other side"

Ehh, it's not mine - but anyway.

My neighbor lived in Germany a spell while in college. He had a room in an older home where the homeowner had died. Apparently, in life, this guy was rather jealous of his woman and didn't like guys so much. And he had a strange name of "Helmut". And so here's my neighbor, in the house with Helmut's widow. Don't get stupid, how many 20-somethings go for 50-somethings?

Anyhow, it started as little noises and progressively got worse. I forget all the details, but everything culminated one night when he's in his room studying and he hears a noise and "feels a presence".

He gets all goosebumpy and yells out if anyone is in the house. No answer.

All of a sudden the door to his room starts to slowly creak open. Barely able to talk, my neighbor says, "Helmut, if that's you, don't show yourself, because I think I'm about to die..."

At that moment, "the presence" left, and nothing ever bothered him again.

I posted this on the old board, and it's still one of the scariest moments I've ever experienced. It was a while back when I was attending a well-known university in Chicago. I was driving out to see my gf who lived about 2/3 hours away from the city. Well, I was basically in the middle of nowhere, on a very long and straight road, when my car crapped out on me. I tried to start it a few times but I essentially knew nothing about engines or how to fix one. So I called AAA to send a tow truck. I was only able to give them the road I was on and the most recent crossroad I had passed, since there was literally nothing but corn fields and telephone lines around me.

Well, about 5 min after I called AAA, I saw an old pickup truck driving towards me from the direction that I was headed. After it finally past me, the driver stopped and pulled off to the side of the road. At this point it all kind of reminded me of the film The Strangers, because there were 3 people in the truck. The driver, a woman and another male passenger. After like a minute of sitting there, the driver came out and starting walking towards my car. The thing that struck me as odd was that the two passengers in the truck just sat there, facing forward so I couldn't see their faces, throughout the ENTIRE time. They never once turned their heads or moved an inch.

So the driver, a rather big guy (6 foot 4 I'd say) walked up to my car and started knocking on my window, asking if I needed help. I told him I was fine but he kept knocking. I said to him that a tow truck was on its way. Then he started to grab the door handle to open the door, but thankfully I had locked it when I saw him coming. Something just didn't feel right. I was like, what are you doing man? I said I'm fine. Then, all of a sudden, he stopped pulling at the door handle, and paused for a second. He looked both directions down the road and it seemed like he was hesitating about something. Then he muttered one word.. and this is what scared me the most... at barely a whisper, he said "lucky..." I could barely make out what he said at the time. Then he stared at me for like a good 15 seconds, went back to his truck, and drove off. But instead of driving down the road, in the direction he was headed, he drove back the way they CAME. The road was a good 1-2 miles long. I never understood why he would drive that far down the road to my car, if he wasn't intending to pass by.

I was young.

Probably about 10 and sleeping at my cousins. Small Lansing bungalow, long, long ago.

My cousin and I argued about who would get the bed (he and I both wanted to give it up to be nice), I finally capitulated as I was the guest and climbed in looking forward to cartoons in the morning.

Some time in the middle of the night, I woke up (I think) to see my cousin kneeling by the bed looking at me. It was dark, I couldn't see him all the well, but I called his name a couple of times thinking he was playing a joke but no answer, just standing/kneeling there staring. Finally, I reached out to bop him and my hand passed right through. The image disappeared but I stayed up the rest of the night under the covers shaking. Did not go back to sleep, one of the worst nights of my life.

Might have been sleep walking, might have been dreaming who knows.

Wtf is the small planet? Where is this bar? Graduated in 07.

I am just imagining you living in the huge mansion from the Resident Evil 1 game.

And the truck story was terrifying and i remember it from the old board. Seriously, that would just be the worst time.
