Ghost stories/Haunted Houses in Michigan

  • Johnny2x2x said...

I've got a couple, nothing too creepy, just some things I cannot explain.

1st I was about 13 spending the night at my best friend Jim's house, Jim's dad had been in the hospital with lung cancer for some time. Jim and I were sleeping in his room when he woke me up at about 3 am, he said, "John, John, did you hear that?" I had heard nothing. " My dad was just here John, he was standing right there talking to me." I said, go back to sleep your dad is not here. We went back to sleep and were awakened by his brother a few hours later. Jim's father had passed away in the night.

2nd I was in high school and was hanging out with a girl I knew, she was my best friend and was dealing with a death in the family. We used to smoke weed in this cemetary to get away and be left alone, well after dark we were sitting on the hood of the car a little high i admit, when we saw several lights scattered accross the cemetary moving closer, they were still a couple hundred yards away, but they looked like people walking around with miners hats on. Considering we were just 16 and freaked out that we might get caught smoking weed, we decided we should drive home, the exit to the cemetary unfortunately passed right through where these lights were. We locked the doors and drove towards the entrance, here's where it gets weird. We approached the lights that were still moving, they were about 6 feet off the ground, just like a miner's hat would be, but when we got close enough to see, there were no bodies under the lights, just floating lights in the dark. We got withing 10 feet of a couple with our car, but there just simply was nothing holding these lights up, certainly no people wearing miners caps, we sped off and left the cemetary totally freaked out. I've never been able to explain what i saw.

nothing to do with the weed :P

"He was standing there, Jim, he was standing there when he shouldn't have!"

Sorry, I couldn't resist. As for #2, I would need to know your pot smoking history to weigh in.

Had smoked plenty of city dirt weed and this was no different, we were buzzed, but I had been high a hundred times befor and so had she. It really was freaky, I think we both just wrote it off to being high, but I know what I saw.

  • I think i hear something making a bump-like sound. It sounds like it's coming from right above me. I think it's a ghost. It probably is like, all grey, with no face and shit like that. Maybe it has stars for eyes and a mouth. Who knows? I've never really seen one before.

  • Not a ghost/haunted house story per se, but this deserves to be mentioned in this thread.

The Nain Rouge, a cool Detroit legend that not enough people know about.

There is a series on the Syfy channel called Lost Girl (about a bi-sexual succubus).

They had a entire story arch in the second season about the main character being visited by the Nain Rouge on multiple occassions. The show is from Canada, so it doesn't surprise me that the French influence (the NR legend is French in origin) is present in the show's story lines.

Oh and pic of the bi-sexual succubus.

  • Question of the day: Are there any ghosts in West Michigan?

Whoooo!. Have you ever seen any ghosts in Muskegon or do you know of any haunted houses or sites in the area? It's Halloween. Time to take a break from all that scary politics and focus on the really scary stuff like haunted houses and where to see real ghosts, not just skeletons in candidates' closets. In recent years, ghost hunters have set up at Mouth Cemetery in Montague and in Nunica Cemetery trying to capture spirits on video. There also have been reports of ghosts in the Hackley house at the Hackley So have you seen any ghosts? Where's the best place to find them in Muskegon?

  • Over the weekend, something unexplainable happened.

My power outlets in the main bedroom went out in the middle of the night. So I head downstairs to mess with the breaker box. When I go to return to bed my pillows and sheets are all in the floor.

Coincedently, my wife says she thought she saw some weird flash of movement go across the bedroom door when I returned.

Possibly, the sheets were tucked inside my fat arse and got dragged off, spilling the pillows to the floor. Or we may be gone.
