Down in my redneck of the woods a 79 year old grandmother twice shot her 39 year old in the abdomen during a dispute. Yes I live in the vicinity of lots of white trash.

HAMILTON COUNTY, IL — A 79-year-old grandmother shot her granddaughter during what authorities believe was an “argument that got tragically out of hand” Monday in rural Hamilton County.

Rebecca “Becky” Thomason, 39, was shot twice by her grandmother, Mary Bullock, at Bullock’s rural Dahlgren residence just before 7 a.m., Hamilton County Sheriff Gregory Brenner said.

“It appears the granddaughter was the aggressor and the grandmother had to defend herself,” Brenner said. “It’s looking like an argument that got tragically out of hand.”

Thomason, who lives about a half-mile from her grandmother, suffered a wound to the stomach area and a grazing wound, he said. She was airlifted to Deaconess Hospital in Evansville, Ind., for treatment of “very, very serious injuries,” Brenner said.

A call to Deaconess Hospital requesting a report on Thomason’s condition was not returned Monday night.

Bullock was interviewed by authorities investigating the shooting, Brenner said.

“She has a valid Firearm Owner’s Identification card and can legally possess a firearm,” he said.

No charges have been filed pending the results of the investigation.

The incident is under investigation by the Hamilton County Sheriff’s Office and the state police Zone 7 investigations unit.

That she had a son who killed himself, and had to hear that (even though I am sure that the kids did not know what they were doing in regard to that), just beyond wrong.

I didn't really mean it in a negative way. More of a shocking way. I still hope she gives the majority of it away to a worthy charity.

My roommate got attacked by a group of about 8 12-15 yr olds walking home from the store one night. Little did they know there were cops all over the place hidden (it was right next to a housing project in SE DC) and a bunch of them got caught, rounded up and book in the parking lot of this Sunoco across the street.

Anyway, I came to pick him up and take him to the hospital since he got hit in the head twice and a split lip, and while I was there waiting a couple of kids got released to their "parents" and damn. I thought the cops were gunna have to step into that shit. Some of these "welfare" parents are harder on their kids than any yuppie white folks I've seen. I almost felt bad for this one kid whose dad looked like an older/fatter Will Gholston and was going absolutely ape shit, it was terrifying.

My guess is that in a richie suburbs and stuff the parents immediately look for someone else to blame for their shitty kids rather than punish the hell out of him/her for being a trashbag. These kids' parents probably think they can do no wrong, or are too busy with Junior League and shit to take the time to find out what their kids are really up to.

Yeah she makes like 15k a year and is a widow, frankly I'm OK with her keeping all of it and living out the rest of her life in relative comfort.

Wow, they've donated almost $280,000 for her now.
