Green played well- but nobody else bothered to show up.

  • Hopefully that is a slap to the face and tells them to wake up for OSU. We play like that against the Buckeyes, we are sharing the title.

    WesternSpartan

  • well is an understatement, he put the team on his back

    GreenAllDay

  • We won't play like that vs the bucks. Chill out.

Actually, Draymond played his worst game of the year. For those who don't know, this is a team game! As the leader of the team. It is Draymond's job to get everyone involved and make sure the team plays to the best of their abilities.

It's the job of the point guard to get everyone involved....

You may challenge 22doosh for his record of downvotes. I'll help.

  • I don't think it was not bothering to show up.

Appling and Dawson appeared overwhelmed by the atmosphere, which is disappointing but hardly surprising. That place was an insane asylum from the word go.

We would have needed to be very good tonight and we were bad. It's as simple as that.

Anyone see that sledgehammer lying around here anywhere?

    Anyone. Anyplace. Anytime.

  • Thornton looked pretty solid tonight.

    Our 2 seniors showed up...

    Eds Medicine246

  • I thought Thornton did what we usually need him to do.

    KamState

  • Payne and Wood need to be more consistent. Wood especially. He came to MSU for opportunities like this.

Also, the set plays broke down like a Ford Taurus.

  • Indiana played great, they deserved to win. They were moving the ball and on occasion hitting tough shots.

    We will win Sunday!!!

please don't start this. Early foul trouble on Payne caused him to play way to many mins causing him to suffer on both sides of the court

  • Fact is this team has won despite the lack of help from the guards this season. God bless Keith sacraficing his O for the better of the team this season. Kid looks completely down everytime he even remotely attempts to shoot outside of 15 ft. Wood, i dunno, he seems like he doesn't want to force anything and for that reason doesn't let anything flow naturally.

AT...i completely apologize to that kid he has been a warrior for this team. Nix/Payne.....is simply hot and cold. Not getting much from anyone else either sure doesn't help.

Oh well, got once chance at home to win it. When this season started and you told me this was how the season ends I am rather sure everyone would have taken that.

  • That's a pessimistic way to look at it.

I saw it as Crean telling his team the Green was going to get his but by God Payne wasn't going to get the 15 he got against OSU and he plus Nix weren't going to get 18. They were also going to clamp down on Appling scoring.

So Green gets 29 and Crean's team plays tough defense on the other 9 who score 26.

    It worked.

Let's be honest though. There were enough open looks that both got... they just didn't finish.

I think that was supposed to be a really poor attempt at sarcasm. At least, I hope that's what it was.

Watching Wood and Appling pass up wide open shots over and over and over again was painful. Not sure why these guys have zero confidence in their games. Nix is uber-confident. Green is confident. Thornton is confident. Everyone else looks at a jump shot like a potential defensive rebound instead of 2 points.

  • There were some unusual line-ups on the floor. It looked like an early season substitution pattern. Probably caused by a combination of Payne's foul trouble and a desire to audition different bench players (e.g. Gauna, Kearney and Trice) for roles in the tournament.

This. Our guard play is a big concern heading into the tourney. In my estimation, you need strong guard play to make a deep run. Wood and Appling need to find their shot.

Probably the most hostile atmosphere MSU has seen since the first 15 minutes of the OSU game and in aa. Those don't seem like open looks with the crowd going crazy and Crean sending fresh players. That's something the team didn't face in Columbus.

Both teams played 10 players unlike OSU or umaa. Then IU's bench got 12 from Jones and 3 from Roth. MSU's bench scored 7 points.

Spot on. IU was daring Appling to shoot and he could not pull the trigger and at times, they didn't even bother to guard Keith or Wood.

Exactly. Dudes would get thr ball and look around for Green. 55 points is what you get when that happens. This team is best when they are fighting each other to take shots.
