Guns 'N Roses, Chili Peppers inducted into Rock Hall of Fame

  • This will of course beg the question can Axl, Izzy, Slash, Duff, and Steven come together and be on the same stage for the first time in nearly 20 years. All the fans want it. In their prime, they were without question the top act in the entire world. Each of them seperately was the most talented at their craft and together it was just explosive and awesome at the same time. Ask any of their contemporaries from that era and to a man, they would say GNR was an absolute monster. I personally hope they can put away their egos, which are substantial, and appear on stage at the induction ceremony. If the Temptations could do it, these guys can.

and oh yeah...RHCP wore socks on their dicks on stage. They were alright.

  • Until the CTA is in - I'm out.

  • Everyone will go for it except Axl. Which is a shame. And those who say Axl can't still howl are incorrect. Saw him and the Guns trbute band at the Palace last week. Guy is heavier now but still hits the notes. Very unlikely Axl shows for the induction.

  • Flea should've stuck to acting.

I bought some batteries, but they weren't included... so I had to buy them again. What do batteries run on?

    Steven Wright

  • Damn I guess its official, I'm old. GNR was the first cool band that I didn't want my parents to know that i listened to.

I think Axl shows but won't play onstage with the old guys. He'll probably do a song with his band and the other guys will do a song with Izzy singing (if Izzy shows, he's probably the most likely not to actually). If they can pull it together, the RRHOF just got themselves an expensive ticket.

lol Mine too. My mom took away my cassette tape of GNR Lies because it had a censored pic of a nude women in the liner.

  • Can Axl show up and not go off on the audience ?

Since the audience for this type of deal is typically a lot of music execs and people in the industry, and not your usual deadbeat burn out metal fan, I think he will be fine. I cannot see this audience giving Axl double barrelled middle fingers and screaming at the tops of their lungs that his sister is a whore, which is what set him off at one concert I attended back in 91.

    Dude that's 20 years ago.

    The Cure got robbed.

If we can trick Coach Krzyzewski into saying his own name backwards, perhaps he will be pushed back to the fifth dimension

  • GNR, RHCP, Beasties? Man... It's like I'm back on the 5th grade play-ground again showing off my "Appetite for Destruction", "License to Ill" and "Mother's Milk" cassettes that my parents let me buy...

My parents were really open to letting me buy what ever music I wanted...as long as it wasn't "garbage". I think my dad actually like those bands despite the fact that he'd never admit it. I found out later that my brothers and I were allowed to buy music that may be "questionable" because my grandparents had forbidden my parents to buy seemingly harmless albums of their day (Beatles, Stones, Who, etc...) and they did anyway...they didn't want to be hypocrites.

I don't get the impression that Axl is going to go off on anyone, certainly not the way he used to. Slash is beyond mellowed out now and Izzy is the same aloof guy he always was. If there is an issue, it will be someone not showing up. These guys aren't the speedball fueled loons they were 20 years ago.

Yeah.......right. A bag of cats being run through a wood chipper sounds better than current Axl Rose.

This makes me feel really old.

But IMO, RHCP are the greatest band in the last 20 years.

    And Beasties are incredibly influential.

Can't speak for the performance in the video, but he sounded good last Thursday.

Yeah, I'm surprised he actually showed up and did a 2+ hour show from what my friends said, and said he was actually pretty good even though they had low expectations. But he is such a freak, who knows. If he only could hold down his ego for a bit and realize if the real GNR reunited and toured, they could make so much money it would be sick. Maybe this will be the spark....

    BleedGreen4ever

  • The video was not only the first show of the tour, but it was pouring rain and overall miserable weather in an outdoor arena. There are tons of clips out there of the current tour and the guy can still sing his ass off.

    Buzzer Beater

  • I thought the Beastie Boys and RHCP should have been first-ballot picks, but I'm glad they got in. Should be a great induction ceremony this year.

They will get in, eventually. It took to 2006 for Black Sabbath to be inducted and they created an entire genre.

Agree, the cure has more influence than GNR, there's no way they should be in the Hall with just 4 1/2 cd's , one that was a ep and another Double album that was just a marketing scam.

There are so many bands that deserve to be in but its politics with the rarhof. They are only putting gnr in because they are hoping for big numbers if they reunite.

If GNR is first ballot then Nirvana should be two. Really the same amount of work and Nirvana actually had a much bigger impact on music
