You might want to find out if it's a 'Mute' swan in Michigan... because..
Out of the state's estimated 15,000 Mute Swans, the DNRE has a plan to kill 13,000. This plan has been in the works for a while, but it came to a head in Lansing on Thursday, with a Natural Resources Commission vote that would allow the DNRE to kill off nearly 90 percent of the state's Mute Swan population. from 2011...
The 'Mute' swans are invasive and taking up the habitat of the native Trumpeter Swan (Cygnus buccinator).

I don't know about swans but the opossum who lives in my backyard stares me down 3 times a week when I'm getting home. I swear he's plotting something. I don't have legitimate pics (yet) but these are pretty accurate.
