As someone who manages her company's whistleblower hotline, I can tell you that any actionable complaint or even partially substantiated accusation gets taken pretty seriously. Public companies report both the initial call and the resolution to the Board.

The only annoying calls are when people are calling to complain anonymously about a coworker or supervisor when it should have just been raised directly with HR. Much harder to resolve without the ability to ask follow-up questions of the person raising the complaint.
