We think it's a 1932 Detroit Tiger.

bump. Tigers historians, was it normal for giveaways at tiger games in the 30s? I can't imagine my great grandpa would have had this picture unless it was given to him by someone close to the team or it was a giveaway at a game.

Could be a cut-out from a team picture. Team pictures were sold to the fans at the stadium.
Could be the old knuckleball pitcher Tommy Bridges.

That's who we thought it was, but how my grandpa came to have the picture is the real mystery. if team pucs were sold to fams, and you could have individuals' pics, I think that's probably the answer, but the pic I have is pretty large, and I don't see it having been cut from a larger pic by him.

There appear to be 2 other players in the background of the picture.
That's why I suggested it could have been part of a team picture.

yeah we were sure it was from the team pic, but I doubt my grandpa would have cut it like that himself. Maybe they sold team pics and individuals?
