Hicks Talks New Offers & MSU Trip

    One of the Spartans’ top defensive targets, Darian Hicks, continues to add scholarship offers. But at the same time Hicks is planning his next Michigan State visit.

    Am I wrong to think that he's going to camp at tOSU and UM, and if he doesn't receive an offer by then, he'll come to MSU?

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    You are absolutely correct Rocky.
    Both o$u and UM want CB Devin Fuller so they are both slow playing Hicks and to a some extent, Warfield.

    Wow, I got downvoted to hell for that lol. Kid made it clear that if he gets a UM offer, they move to the top of his list. We all know that he wants an offer from tOSU. He didn't get a UM offer last time he was there, but now he's determined to camp both at UM and at tOSU, while having MSU telling him he's a top priority? You can down-vote all you want, but this reads that the kid is going to give it one last shot to earn a schollie from his top 2 choices, and if not, he'll be a Spartan.

    I realize MSU fans want guys who think MSU is their absolute #1 choice at the exclusion of all others, but just like MSU has plan B and C recruits, MSU is a plan B or C school for some recruits. That's ok, because guys like Cunningham, Bell, Worthy, Adams, McGowan, Burkland etc. all would have jumped on a tOSU offer. I think that's worked out well.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    I +1'ed you, Rocky, because it's been fairly obvious that this is the case. There are direct quotes from him that state this is his approach. We shouldn't take it so personally.

    I know I know many a buckeye in history has gone up and done so but still damn annoying. Go for the Good Guys instead.

    Kind of my thought on it as well lol. Shane Jones (4* on Rivals) is another example, as is Madaris. If you've noticed, the "scraps" from OH are moving from the mid to low 3-stars (Cunnigham, Worthy, Adams) towards high 3-stars and 4-stars (Burkland, Madaris, Jackson, McGowan, O'Connor, etc.), with the occasional Le'Veon Bell thrown in for good measure.

    Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    I must admit, that part of it kind of blows my mind. The only think I could think of is that it's the ultimate way to stick it to a school that you were always loyal to, but wasn't loyal to you (by offering a shollie).

    Cunningham tore tOSU a new one this past year and he talked about going up against the in-state school that didn't want thim motivated him.

    This is exactly what I was thinking too. We are his safety school. He wants to play for tOSU or um.

    Although it bothers me to say this, and I do believe MSU football under Coach Dantonio and AD Hollis is improving it's football reputation, I think it also indicates that these recruits still tend to believe archrival UM's football program is one of equal or at least similar status to their dream school OSU's football program. Pretty logical, you don't become rivals with someone you dominate (IU/MSU gridiron blood rivalry aside). So they are, in a sense, putting their future interests ahead of their past loyalties. Recent successes notwithstanding, the MSU program would still be seen as a step down in status to many of these recruits. This is a big motivating factor in the Blue Wall's refusal to acknowledge MSU's recent success or the heated rivalry with the Spartans. It would contribute to MSU's ongoing status increase and could greatly impact recruiting. Just keep winning, baby! After being dominated by the Spartans during the 50's and 60's they labeled MSU as nothing more than a "football factory". Next they'll have to keep up with times and resort to making accusations of thuggery...oh, wait they already played that card.

  • I think Hicks could get a Michigan offer at camp. Fuller is a real longshot, and if UM targets keep going elsewhere, Michigan might have more room than originally thought.

    Kendell Fuller, I believe is the CB. Devin Fuller went to UCLA in the 2012 class.
