Hockey! Michigan State Vs. Niagara University

Yo yo yoo. I remember A. Allen saying he will have a tuff time starting these threads on weekdays so i'll get it going tonight.
It's time to rebound back from the woodshedding we received at Minny last weekend! Tonight, the fellas face off against the Purple Eagles of Niagara University out of the Atlantic Hockey Association.
Now, don't let the fact that you had no idea such a school could have a D1 team fool you. Niagara returns just about their entire team from a solid squad last year that ended 17-11-9(Wow, that's a lot of ties. Just looked that record up). They were predicted to finish 2nd in the AHA, just barely behind Air Force, as both teams got first place votes. They will be a strong foe and a tough test for our young team.
I believe we are better than Minnesota made us look and a pair of wins here will go a long way to affirm that.

EDIT: Oh, also, Comcast is carrying it on TV somewhere, i don't know.
And radio, of course, is on the spartan sports station. You know the one.(It's 1240AM)

Tonight will be Niagara's second game vs a CCHA opponent, and fourth game of the season. Niagara tied Bowling Green 2-2 to open the season. Niagara comes into the contest 1-1-1 on the season.
This series will be only the second series all time between the two school, with the first series coming 10 years ago. Theses are the only two games ever between the two teams and the series stands at 1-1-0 all time.
I look for the Spartans to rebound with a strong showing in their home opener after a rough first weekend against Minnesota.

MSU actually has a pretty decent challenge tonight. The Perps have issues at goaltending, but they have decent (to Atlantic Hockey standards) talent elsewhere.
I actually wouldn't be shocked if Niagara left EL with a split. I think MSU finds a way to sweep, though.

The Niagara wheel of goaltenders stops at Carsen Chuback tonight, a junior from Saskatchewan. 1-0-1 record in two starts. He has a 1.44 GAA and a .952 save percentage.
