I don't recall a previous thread about this

gotta love ghost going all search function on you....I mean the internets and tRCMB could say that about every thread his sorry azz has ever started. It has already been done better, smarter ,more factual and interesting than his second rate azz. ghost and tsearch function... how ironical.

It got when popular when Hoke refused to say "state", along with not wearing red. Michigan fans thought it was super awesome and badass, so they went with it.

Hoke didn't "refuse" to say "state", it derived from his inability string more than three syllables together.

i really cant blame Hoke here. his entire fanbase is fixated on the ohio state game so he tells them exactly what they want to hear. the guy understands his fanbase and is playing right into their hands. so if he starts having Lloyd Carr 8 win seasons they wont fire him because he is not RichRod and the fanbase loves him. The michigan/osu games have been extremely boring the last decade or so. He is just trying to restore the hype of the game because it needs it

Until he starts blaming losses on crowned fields, night time kickoffs or other bad excuses, i really dont have a problem with the guy. Just like i dont have a problem with Beilein.

    6. When they do kickoffs they chant OOOOOOOOOOOOO, then H-I-O when the ball is kicked
7.Apparel: I've seen people wearing Buckeye shirts that have a Block-O and say "Ohio" below the O, and when they played Cincy in the March Madness, they had special shirts made up that said Cincinnati, Ohio, or something like that for a play on words
    8. There's also the occasional dumba** Buckeye fan that refers to their own team as Ohio, even back when Cooper was coach. They can't name a player on the team, but feel its necessary to talk sh*t saying how "Ohio is gonna kick Michigan's a** this year"(like I said, even back during the Cooper years).

I'm sure there are plenty more examples, these are just ones I could think of off the top of my head. The point is, if they don't want people referring to them as Ohio, they should correct their own fans before they worry about what their rivals call them. The only thing "State" about them is that that word just happens to appear on their uniforms and their school name. All of their history and traditions refer to them as "Ohio".

Literally none of that has anything to do with UM fans calling them Ohio.

It's a douchy thing to do and that's why only one fanbase in college fball refers to Ohio state as Ohio.

The only reason that UofM fans call them Ohio is because of Hoke. Any other reasonings are just stupid. Everyone calls them Ohio State except for UofM.

Your piece of shit fanbase calls them "Ohio" because your fatass coach thought he was clever by not calling them "Ohio State". It has nothing to do with how they refer to themselves.

No they don't. They say that they go to Ohio State. Fortunately, most of their fans are intelligent enough to realize that there is a school in their state that is called Ohio and it's not in Columbus.

How is it a slight to call them "Ohio" if their fans call themselves "Ohio"? It's like calling a black person black.

BS. I'm sure you, like every other UM fan, didn't call them Ohio until Hoke started doing it. It has everything to do with Hoke.

    1. I often refer to Michigan State as "State".
    2. I used to have a shirt that just said "State".
    3. Our basketball uniforms used to just say "State".
    4. I have a shirt that has just a block green S.

None of this means that we as a university are now just "State". You guys say Ohio because of your coach. That's it. He started up the "for God's sake", "Ohio", and "we're Michigan" crap. Your fan base has jumped on board. Perhaps you guys should spend less time coming up with...

    Ohio
    We're Michigan
This is Michigan for God's sake
    Spartoon
    Staee
    Sparty
    Sparty, No!
    MooU
    Little Brother
Can't get into college, go to State
    Spartan tears taste like sugar
    Cow College

Am I missing any others? You guys as a fan base are such tools. Nobody in the rest of the country comes up with this many nicknames to rip on their "third" biggest rival. What a joke that is anyway.
