Hoke on MSU series: 'It's been an ass kicking'

  • Rodeo Burger said...

I agree with you. I also find it weird that UM fans (as in strangers at a sports bar, etc.) feel like they need to tell me they're UM fans, and that MSU is "done". They were silent (and not repping UM gear) for years, but now they want to strike up conversations, and tell me my team sucks. It's weird. But, I do enjoy telling them, in a sincere manner, that I really don't care what they think, or what they want. Nothing seems to annoy them more than hearing that...some will argue that I DO care what they think, and then I ask why I would care what they think. The answer is always something like "Michigan is back! You're scared!". I don't take the bait, I just laugh it off, and say something like "Well, thanks for sharing".

I am a complete dick whenever a UM fan I don't know gives me shit for no reason. It seems like the right thing to do.

  • All thing considered, I like Hoke (so far). He's a pretty straight shooter.

Oh, and I hope we keep kicking UM's ass.

Any poster that finds any coach at UM to be likable needs to get out. Now.

Time to grow up a little.

Pretty much the way that I feel. He seems like a nice enough guy. Kind of dumpy and awkward, but probably a fun guy to have a beer with. He doesn't seem to have the same contempt for humanity that Bo had.

And I'm looking forward to having the ass kickings continue

Hoke appears to be the average Joe kind of guy. It's like when people vote for the president because they think they can have a beer with him.

Ever since Bush I used that consideration in my voting: "Would this guy be fun to out for a night on the town in the middle of the work week?" If yes, I move them down a bit in my mind. If no, I move them up.

    So?

You are talking about a program that trumpets wins against high school teams.

  • Hoke is trying to butter us up. He is very good at the butter game. I don't believe him.

  • Just a hunch, but I think Hoke is back-pedaling a little from his earlier comment - where he sorta dismissed the rivalry with MSU. Now all of a sudden MSU is kicking UM's ass?

I hate that argument. They don't put qualifiers on any of their most wins, championships, etc bullshit. They have no problem trumpeting their greatness against Booby and JLS, Denny or Muddy. No need for MSU fans to justify it in any way. Hoax-a-Mania went 11-2 last year. If the media and fans wants to legitimize them by using their win total, then they can take that argument and stick it where the sum don't shine.

I wouldn't say they had the worst teams in SCum history. The worst coaching staff in SCum history, yes.

  • I don't get how anybody finds this guy likable. Did you not read the article? Hoke was sitting there getting 600 campers at a camp to sing the praises of scUM in his little chant thing, under the facade of treating it like a players meeting. How many of those kids even have scUM offers? Why do they give a f**k how many championships they've won? This is exactly why MD interrupted their assistant coach at that coaches meeting. It's supposed to be instructional, things for these kids to focus on (or the coaches in the other meeting) during their recruitment and lead up to their career, and he can't resist allowing it to devolve into a scUM pep rally.

Michigan has been proselytizing since before the Western Conference made it against their rules.

This. Was 2002 downplayed at all? Or the 2004 3OT game against JLS? 2005? 1994? Of course not, they're "Mighty Michigan."

And like Ce-ment said, they were 11-2 last year. Funny how the last few years, Michigan fan would proclaim their return to glory when they start 4-0, 5-0, whatever, but after they lose to us each time, they backtrack and refuse to proclaim that their team is good-nah, they can't possibly admit that MSU beat a "good" Michigan team, when we win, Michigan must be down. It's hilarious, they're so pathetic.

You know what, they expect us (Spartans, not so much Bobcats) to own the Muddy, Booby and JLS mistakes, no reason they should be able to dismiss theirs. They hired him arrogantly thinking he was going to revolutionize the B1G (like we haven't seen spread attacks before), and his arrogance didn't blend well with the blue-blood's arrogance, Now they arrogantly (I'm sensing a theme here) want us all to act like it never happened. F 'em, don't buy into their b.s. is all I'm saying.

Yeah, I agree with all of this. After Rich Rod failed they brought back the "michigan man" delusion. I didn't see that coming.
