Hoke's First Commit...

Sorry folks I can't help myself here.

Raymon Taylor has moved from the IU commit list to umaa's on 1/22/11 per rivals

    How the mighty have fallen

Raymon committed to Lynch, so he has no allegiance to Wilson (who didn't bother to keep half the commits anyways). He's a 4 star prospect, so it's not exactly a reach.

You mean an inch and 18lbs bigger than Johnny Adams was when MSU recruited him?

Do you try to say idiotic things or does it just come naturally?

Darrell Green and Antonio Winfield were/are very good DBs in the league. Revis isn't biggest guy either and I don't see teams throwing at him too often! If you can talent, you can play.

I know I'm splitting hairs here so help me out.

    Lynch was let go 11/28/2010
    Wilson was hired 12/07/2010
Raymon gave Wilson a verbal on 12/08/2010

So how was Raymon a a Lynch verbal if he announced IU the day after Wilson was hired?

    Just askin'

Yeah, that was my point. Saying "HAHA Michigan sucks!" is tiresome, especially when someone is critiquing the size of a corner recruit who is fairly average sized for a corner recruit. It reeks of little penis syndrome.

Raymon originally announced to Lynch over the summer, then stated he was going to look around and apparently reaffirmed his commitment to Wilson. However, his reaffirmation was always in question so there's definitely some gray area as to whether he was ever a Wilson verbal. Either way, it doesn't really matter.

I know it doesn't matter. I just enjoy posting this crap and then seeing the absence of the usual ummie suspects who have never missed a chance to make a big deal about a player who changes their mind and flips to MSU.

I'll be interested to see how Taylor's career plays out. In the past few years, there have been several in-state 4 stars who didn't get early offers from MSU or during camps. There may be others, but I'm thinking of Jeremy Gainer, Earnest Thomas, and now Raymon Taylor. As we know, MSU eventually offered Gainer and he switched his commitment from Indiana to MSU. MSU never offered either Earnest Thomas or Raymon Taylor. Earnest Thomas eventually switched his commitment from UCLA to Illinois so it'll be fun to see if either of them makes an impact at the Big Ten level.

Now every time you post about recruiting I immediately think you're alluding to something. I'm just going to post this so I feel better since it wasn't that we were recruiting him hard while he was committed and flipped him.

"A pair of Indiana commitments have been softened as Birmingham Brother Rice (Mich.) cornerback Kenny Watkins and Livonia Clarenceville linebacker Jeremy Gainer have both decided to re-open their recruitment. The two players are cousins and have been taking trips together, most recently, official visits to Minnesota this weekend. It was there that both received offers from the Golden Gophers. They will both take an official visit to Indiana coming up and may also head to Iowa. Gainer has also been on unofficial visits to Penn State and Michigan and is also hearing from Michigan State."

Yeah, that wasn't the point of my post at all.

Taylor camped at MSU and never got an offer.

You can read it anyway you want but MSU staff knew about him, watched him, saw how he interacted with them and other campers and didn't offer.

  • Ouch! Now they tagged Purdue again this year.

Stole the qb recruit that was committed since June of 2010. Russel Bellomy.

Looks like Hoke and staff are going down the roster of committed recruits at the other Big Ten schools to see who would be interested in switching.

Doesn't say much about their underhandedness???

  • So far Hoke has retained several players who were soft verbals and picked off players from Vanderbilt, IU, MN and Purdue.

Maybe rr left the snake oil behind.

In teh 2011 recruiting thread GoBlueFromOhio was bragging about how they're set "with that QB from TX". Then I asked him to think about what he said: UM is bragging about picking off a 5.5 3* from Purdue. Oh how the mighty have fallen.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

  • Oddly enough if he keeps snagging a couple more guys like this, scUM is going to end up w a top 25 class. The four stars to Hayes, and taylor may or not be accurate, but the class will be ranked higher.

Even w the lost time, hoke has the benefit of the scUM brand, resources and friendly media spin machine. They act like mattison was the architect of the feared Raven defenses. They were already powerful and talented The guy was a family friend who got in at the right time with John Harbaugh. He may be a good coach, but talent can do wonders for you. How good was he at ND under Davie???
