So I made a mistake in the original post saying it's the UK not Great Britain.
It is in fact Great Britain. Weird that they don't just call it the UK to include Northern Ireland.

Britain's dominance in the velodrome continued as their women's team pursuit trio set a new world record to clinch Olympic gold in style.
Dani King, Laura Trott and Joanna Rowsell clocked three minutes 14.051 seconds to beat the world record they set in the first round.
The United States took silver, more than five seconds behind Britain

If Beckham was going to light the torch, then based on his PKs in crucial situations, he would have missed the cauldron greatly to the right.

Funny fact: Great Britain has more competitors (541) than any of the other 204 countries participating in the 2012 olympics. Yet they always end up back in the pack by the end of the games. Interesting. Not such a great feat now , is it english bob?
