How good will Max Bullough be this year?

  • He was pretty damn good last year, and that was only his fist year starting. I think he is going to be a absolute monster this year.

  • Scherzer is going to have a great year. I think his success in the post season last year is going to carry over to this year. The tigers have arguably the best 4 starting pitchers in MLB

  • Definitely seemed like you were talking about Scherzer haha...

Bullough really doesn't need to improve in too many ways. Now that he's comfortable directing traffic, he needs to focus on not over pursuing and making decisions faster as the play develops. Coverage could be worked on too. Those things could be true for almost any LB though.

Name : Stock Verlander : Down Fister : Down Scherzer : Up Porcello : Up 5th starter (compared to Penny) : Up

That's not to say Verlander or Fister will have bad years, just that it would be near impossible to replicate an MVP/Cy Young/Triple Crown/24 win season and Fister is going to suffer a little from defense and he had a career year last year, nothing dramatic though.

  • Bullough has bulked up to 252 as well. He was never a speedster so I hope the added mass helps him get off blocks.

No, but for a MLB, he is fast enough. I have seen mock draft projections of him going in the second or third round in 2013.

He will swallow up the middle, and with Allen, Norman, Jones on the outside he doesn't need to be able to run down guys on the corners, even though he can.

Let me ask you a question...
Have you heard of Coco Beware, Andre the Giant, Ronnie Lott, Bob Probert?....
    Vagina's.

I think he'll lead the team in tackles again. He has to improve shedding blocks, so hopefully another year of weight training will help with that. I thought he looked pretty good last year, though he disappeared from some games.

I thought MSU would get 90% of Greg Jones' from Bullough last year and I think they got between 80 and 85% of the production. What made MSU so formidable is that just about every other spot on D saw an increase in production from the year before. CLR was replaced by a true soph, with only a slight drop-off, if anything. The SS spot saw a true soph (Lewis) outplay the RS SR predecessor (Hyde). Denicos Allen didn't make as many tackles as Eric Gordon, but so what? Definite improvement there. Norman in '11 was better than Norman in '10.

The DL, however, saw every single position take a step forward from the year before. Just so impressive to see that. Basically I feel that 9/11 positions on D last season improved from '10, and the 2 that didn't saw a minimal drop-off. Real testament to the coaches.

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

I'd be interested to find out if Denicos' extra bulk has affected his speed or his flying ability.

Like rush, thought he started strong then faded after the uofm gm. I expect him to basically play the same until the final 3 gms like basically every other defensive player.

Do you even bother to look these things up?

Rush through the UM game: 21 tackles, 4.5 TFL, 2 sacks, 1 PBU, 6 QB hurries.

Rush after the UM game: 37 tackles, 7.5 TFL, 2 sacks, 4 PBU, 1 FF, 3 QB Hurries

    You were saying?

Michigan State does not and will not run the 3-4 defense.

    Bullough

    Through UM: 41 tackles, 3 TFL, 1.5 sacks, 1 INT, 0 QB Hurries, 1 FF, 0 PBU

    Post UM: 49 tackles, 4 TFL, 2 sacks, 0 INT, 6 QB Hurries, 1 FF, 2 PBU

    That's fading?

He could be, but he'd need to make multiple strides to get to that level.

  • We will find out if Worthy made him look better or not.

Smart and tough. Middle linebackers DNA.

  • There is no doubt he will be good, but he also benefited from Worthy double teams. Some of the better centers in the league graduated and the middle of the D-line has potential.

I look at the LB's as a unit, and as a unit they are strong. DRob, prepare for the unit.

This defense could be ..... this year.
