How much longer is Simon planing to be MSU President?

The importance of Lou Anna Simon to the current success of MSU athletics should not be underestimated. After a string of presidents since Wharton whose attitudes toward athletics ranged from apathetic to hostile we have a president who, like John Hanna, gets it when it come to MSU and athletics. The next job search important to Spartan athletics may be University President; not AD, football coach, or basketball coach.
She got her BA in 1969 so she must be near traditional retirement age. I know that people in academia will often work much longer. Has she ever said any thing about how long she would like to remain as president.

SPARTAN FOR LIFE!
One of the coolest moments of my undergrad life came when I was eating breakfast in the caf at Case one morning. I noticed an older woman eating breakfast at one of the chairs while watching Sportscenter. She finished before me, picked up her stuff, and I was shocked to see it was LAKS. She was eating caf food, in a chair, watching SC, at like 9 in the morning.
Cool story bro.

I used to see her eating in the cafeteria all the time. She's doing a fine job (and not just with regard to athletics) and I hope her successor keeps it up.

Aside from everything else that she's doing well, I hope that she has a solid succession plan in the works. I hope that she's already picked/ranked a pool of 3-5 candidates, ever-changing depending on her timeframe and maturation of new potential candidates.

LAKS most likely a solid succession plan in place with a candidate already in place just like McPherson had when LAKS took over.

He's going to have a lot on his plate. I'm not sure he could handle being a university president, athletic director, basketball coach, and football coach. That's not even counting the fact that Hondo is reporting that MSU is planning to create a rhythmic gymnastics team and possibly a synchronized swimming team for Izzo to coach.

I hope the BOT has learned their lesson(s). The best MSU presidents have been MSU grads (LAKS has a masters and PhD from MSU) Hannah (#1 in my book) , Gordon Guyer who kept MSU upright after the DiBiagio troubles, McPherson and LAKS, all MSU grads.

I did. She was head of arts and letters when I was a frosh at State. She was provost by the time I was done.
As head of arts and letters she did a lot for SMB and that's when she started walking with Madden in front of the band to the stadium on game days.
Even back then she was interested in the success of Athletics as a visible marketing tool for the academic side of her department. She always seemed to hace a pretty good idea on how to incorporate that succes into academic success.
She's always been much more visible and approxhabe that PMcP... She often takes breaks in the Library cafe if she has the time and welcomes students/faculty/staff to approach her.
