A report a couple months back came out that the number one killer of children are TVs falling on them. I think you should have to get a license to own a television based on this report.

I thought this was about MSU at first and was concerned you were calling Branden Dawson a child. Man-child maybe.

I agree, if they an no longer allowed to play around the stairs, the pool is definitely a good alternative for the young ones.

Nanny State thinking. Is the next step for all of us to wear helmets while driving? There has to be a line somewhere..

Next they'll be advising me not to let my kids smoke while they play with their plastic bags.

When we started the adoption process, the social worker doing our home study walked around our house and told us how to baby proof. The highlight was her telling us to put yellow tape on the floor two feet from the stove, so the kid wouldn't cross the line and touch the hot stove.

I put a gate at the top of our stairs at home after our first kid fell down them once when he was still learning to walk. Didn't get hurt at all (luckily), but I figured, why take the risk?

Thanks to this report I will be removing the stairs from my home. Thank you for the heads up.

I'd say the people who feign outrage over this kind of stuff are just as bad as the people who make the rules and the people who write the articles.

Maybe I'm just misunderstanding what you're saying, but it sounds as if you don't mind the fact that this kind of idiocy eventually wends its way into our laws. All you have to do is look around to see the effects of all of the well intentioned laws meant to protect us that in some measure end up restricting our freedoms. There needs to be a balance.

These changes are incremental in nature. Sadly, it may not be to far-fetched to think that Dr. Leo Spaceman may ACTUALLY need to remove the stairs from his home at the rate we are going.

Yike. Fell down the stairs a number of times but always the carpeted one upstairs. Falling do the basement steps would have been a killer.
