For playing 2 games and being Jordan's bitch in practice for one season...

    That'd be freaking awesome...

Lucas, Summer and Allen were all seen as future NBA players.

Summers was seen as a potential one and done.

You sir, are a dumb ass. Summers was viewed as a one and done by no one.

Those are the first two that jumped to my mind as well. Can't think of many others. I mean were Lucas or Lucious legit NBA prospects? Thinking back, were there any other guys that were real "distractions"?

How 'bout Allen, Cotton, Sherman,... lots of possible nomminees.

He's probably confusing Summers for Herzog or Gray.

He might as well call Taylor and Summers out by name if he's going to give hints like that.

    Why? That wouldn't be Izzo.

Brandon Cotton was a good recruit and I think Izzo thought he had a chance to be pretty special.

Also, no idea how he ruined it except by not living up to (very high) expectations, but fact is everybody thought that Kelvin Torbert was a for sure pro.

I remember one national writer saying Izzo just guaranteed another National Championship the second Torbert signed his LOI. Nothing against Torbert--he just peaked early in his carrer.

Lorbek--there you go. He could have been a pro. Guy had great moves around the basketball and had an eye for the ball. If he had stayed, he would have been drafter for sure. Another father who screwed up his son's career path.

Lorbek eventually did get drafted in the 2nd round. He made a few million dollars playing in Europe for a few years before he got drafted.

Izzo may have recruited Jon but Jud was HC at the time.

Not by the time he was a senior. Easily the biggest failure of the izzo era.

Brandon cotton is another name. In fact the name is you ask me. Higher ceiling that both taylor and lucious

So its Izzos' fault after playing 3 years for Jud? So during his watch as head coach, names like Rowley, Mojo, Rashi or Andreas don't come to mind when thinking of poor decisions on recruiting? I won't even mention Herzog, since you fap to his lifesize poster ........

He was drafted in the second round - eventually - and he's still playing in the high European leagues. It's not like he's sitting on his ass, collecting unemployment checks from the EU.

Was acquaintances with Jon at MSU (good friend of his was my roommate).

He always said that Jud loved him, but that he and Izzo were usually on rocky ground.

Jon was (and from what I can tell, still is) a really nice guy. I always wondered whether or not he was too nice to be a really good player at the B1G level.

Someone on Twitter (connected to NBA scouting, I forget who) cited Lorbek's play just a few days ago, pointing out how his style of play has become the norm in most basketball circles for big men.

Legendary keggers put on by Matt Stemenga and John Langeloh diminished the NBA talent.
