If Dawson...

  • Hadn't gotten injured would we have still won BTT and possibly gone further in the tournament?

The team had to adjust but was the team built better to make a further run in the tournament with the way we played with him?

  • I think if we would've beat OSU on Senior Day, we wouldn't have won the BTT because we wouldn't have been as motivated

  • The team was much better with Dawson. Would have won that last game against OSU. Would have won the BTT. Still wouldn't have beaten Kentucky though.

    Its five o'clock somewhere.

Would not have been the difference VS L'ville.

Agreed, plus after the BTT we did not play any of the three games well. That first game was literally against a highschool team and a paint fest with like 55 of our points from the paint. When all we had to do was make 2 footers for a whole game we played like piss the next game.

Yeah. It's hard to say we would have beaten Louisville with him. Maybe we get some more easy baskets from offensive rebounds but I don't know that he adds a whole lot of scoring as to make up for the fact msu was so anemic that night.

Thats not what I'm talking about.

If we played the same way we had all year with Dawson starting we would have looked different and I don't know if that team was built better for the tourney...

  • I have to wonder if we beat tO$U on senior night and flame out in the BTT if we still land the 1 seed out west. In retrospect, a 2 in the East would have set up for a deeper run.

Ok. We still lose to L'vile.
Dawson at this point is about being a 2014 buzz saw.

  • I think the answer to your question will be clear ...let me look a little closer into this orb.

  • I think we would have had no difference besides we would have run on Louisville. Not sure if that woulda made a difference in that game, wouldn't have hurt.

I do not know how you say Dawson would not have helped against Louisville. We got killed on the boards with Green playing on the perimeter and only Payne or Nix to rebound. Also he could have guarded that Behanen dude or whatever and that would have freed Green up. I don't know if we win, but I think the game would have been close and anyone can win a close game.

Don't know if this is true having been to a lot of Louisville games. The bad shooting uofl that played Kentucky was the way they played all year. We lost to them because they shot out of their minds not because they were a better team.

I agree, he wouldn't have been THE difference. He would have made some difference, but I agree not enough to tip the scales, everything else being equal.

Certainly, he's no remedy for horrific shooting or that pathetic 2nd half on D from the bigs on the high ball screen.

Sure, he grabs a couple offensive boards, maybe gets a bucket or two from that, but generally he's not the guy you want against zone.

Don't know how you can say that for certain. Dawson did a LOT of things well, and more importantly... he gave others a break.

Dawson wasn't going to bust zones with his shooting but if you run him on the baseline, his presence demands attention and that opens up space for the big men to go one and one and it clears more space out for the shooters on the outside. If you help, Dawson will kill you on the weakside with lobs and offensive boards.

  • Versus Louisville we didn't have anybody who matched up well with Behannon (15 pts/9 Reb). He seemed pretty similar to a healthy Dawson, so it would have been an interesting match up.

With Dawson I think MSU owns the boards.
