I'm about to spend $500 on a handbag for my wife

  • SpartyOn82 said...

I don't have it picked out yet. It will be either Coach, Michael Kours (sp?) or Louis Vuitton. The budget is $500. I kind of know what style/color/size she likes so I'll take a look and see. 12 Oaks has Coach and MK. If I don't see anything I like, then I'll go to Somerset for Louis Vuitton. I feel stupid for doing this, but she wants one. I could buy a kick-ass chainsaw for the same price...........

if you find a Louis Vuitton (or Prada, Gucci, Dior, etc...) for $500... it is a fake.

  • Where are all the minivan drivers and owners of 10 year old Accords from the car thread to tell the OP they're only getting their wife a 25 dollar Starbuck's card because they don't have to compensate for their small dicks?

Now I've found the 2nd biggest scam in America - designer bags. Number 1 is the wedding cartel. JFC, I don't understand the logic behind all the spending on this kind of crap.

All designer clothing/shoes/accessories would have to be grouped right in there with purses. People enjoy being ripped off when it comes to all of those for men and women. At least the purses are typically made from some nice leather, people drop 200$ on jeans.

Someone please shoot me before I pull this off. FTR, this is twice the amount I paid for my first car, a sweet '72 Plymouth Duster with more rust than sheet metal. Happy Valentines day. honey.........

I have no idea why people post stuff like this on here. If you are about to do something that fully jeopardizes you man card you should probably keep it off the internet.

  • Don't fight it my man, just roll with it. I started out trying to rationalize spending a lot of money on a purse but it doesn't rationalize. It boils down to, if they want it, we get it for them. Now, I am invested in 13 Dooney & Burke's, 6 Coach and here's what you are forgetting, you then have to get the wallets that match them. I'm lucky she likes the D&B or Coach as I can usually get out for 4-500 for both the purse and the wallet.

It's nothing compared to what they have to put up with from us men........haha

How much would you spend on golf clubs?

Zero. I suck and no amount of 'hi tech' equipment is going to change the l.o.f.t in the clubs. I haven't spent money on clubs in over 25 years. All my clubs were given to me.

But I do sit in my recliner while my women bring me beer and bacon in only the highest quality underware. When something is so close to something SO valuable, only the best will do.lol

Louis Vuitton for $500?? Not going to happen.... MAYBE a wallet or something. Even their canvas clutches run $600 and up, with most over $1,000.

    Exactly what I was thinking.
I know there are lots of fake LV bags out there, but I always assumed the real ones were on-par with Prada in terms of price, and trust me that shit ain't cheap.

I'd go to Michael Kors first. If you don't find anything, then you should try Coach.

IMHO, Michael Kors > Coach (says the girls with a MK bag and wallet wink_msu).

Yeah I just got some kind of orange ostrich leather type thing for my lady. Think I paid $400 out the door, which seemed pretty reasonable for an MK bag.

  • I can think of two other things that I'd rather spend that money on, namely hookers and blow.

This is a MAC level budget.

If you're going to get anything of quality, you're going to have to spend at least 3x that amount and will have to go to Somerset and 12Oaks doesn't have Chanel, LV, Prada etc.

  • I got my ex-gf a $300 Coach purse for X-Mas one year. She used it like twice in a year. I called her out and she said, "It's only for special occasions." WTF??? fingergun

golf clubs are made of precision forged steel and space aged carbon fiber that has to be machined using very expensive machinery and skilled labor.

hand bags are made from painted off-fall cow skin and assembled by little poor children working for a bowl of maggot soup in a sweat shop in hunduras.

  • I know more than I should about this. If you're going to drop $500, then get the bag in a classic style she likes in a neutral color that has good craftsmanship (not just a name) and is made of real fucking leather for God's sake for no more than $300.

Why classic style? Shit's expensive and should last a long time. Are you going to buy a sawsall that jams up after a year of use?
Why neutral color? Shit's expensive and should go with everything. Are you going to buy an electric drill that only has one bit?
I really hope the other two are obvious. If they're not, think about the shitty 'leather' belt you got from Meijer or wherever. Two weeks and it's falling apart like a DnD nerd who heard they're discontinuing Mountain Dew. Same with the bag.

While I understand this argument, even the best golfers I know only replace their clubs every 5-10 years. Purses go out of style much quicker than that.

There is no good way to justify spending a month's rent on an accessory. Women would have a much easier time of it if they'd just say "I know it's expensive, but I want it and I can afford it."

    you think like a man.

you need to consider what all the other wives will think of you if you own a $500+ hand bag.

No, I think of fashion like a French woman. Which is, quite honestly, how American men think of fashion (when we bother to think of it at all).
