Indy - tailgate or bars?

  • SteveHelwagen said...

Lot of great bars and restaurants downtown. Go to St. Elmo's or Harry and Izzy's for the steak.

Chammps at the mall downtown is good to watch the day games and drink and eat. The BW3 is spacious as well.

The RAM Brewery is a good spot to eat and drink.

Ton of great clubs. Older crowd (30 and up) does well at Ike and Jonesey's near the Omni hotel. There are some great clubs down the street from there under the railroad viaduct.

Slippery Noodle is great for live music.

With a game at the dome, there will be people everywhere downtown all day. Friends went to the Final Four and said every place was packed.

    Enjoy!!!!!

    Awesome, thanks for the info.

Anyone have some tips on parking? I got a hotel room just outside of town, and will look to drive in and park my car from 4PM-3AM. We'll probably look for a lot around the state capitol building and head on a bar crawl southeast from there hitting a few of the places you mentioned. We'll likely end up at the "georgia street tailgate" for a few beers before heading inside the stadium.

FYI, I'll be the guy in the Greg Jones away jersey, hot wife, and a big smile.

  • Apparently the radio was saying the bars don't open until 3PM. Is that true or are they making shit up?

If you were listening to Valenti & Foster, they mentioned that St. Elmo Steakhouse doesn't open until 3:00. Not the bars, no need to worry, kiddo.

I have tickets to the game, should I park there or at the stadium. What is cheaper?
