Is MSU considered a football or basketball school?

Well, since you've clearly won this round blank, please kindly leave. Come back for more anytime though, I see the other guys were having fun with you.

This is my thread. So maybe I should be telling you to come back any time. Apology accepted.

  • I can complain a lot about my job but it did give me an opportunity to read this thread in its entirety. Started out great and peaked with the "downriver" post.

Guessing around 230 everyone started losing steam. Do you think the OP came in here with the intent on getting banned so he could go back to his board and claim it as a badge of honor?

  • I know the Irish fan is trolling, but the national media has come around and agrees that MSU is one of those rare special places that is both.

Awhile back you said you thought Michigan State was a basketball school. Do you still think that? Or has Dantonio changed your mind?

    Adam Rittenberg (12:48 PM)
It's interesting, Brian. When I posed that question to the blog last year, I got tons of emails from MSU fans saying it's a football school, end of story. I think there's a lot of truth to that, and Mark Dantonio's recent success has brought the football passion out of a fan base that had been knocked down too many times in the early part of the last decade. Does MSU basketball get more media coverage than MSU football? Without a doubt. Is Tom Izzo a bigger deal than Dantonio? Without a doubt. But I think Michigan State is one of those rare schools that has great passion for both major revenue sports.

  • I just want to ask the OP an honest question:

Which member of his family gets paid the most for sex with men--his mother, his little sister or him? Not trolling just curious because my wart-covered friend really enjoyed his time with each of them, but was a little disappointed with the looseness.

  • I have an additional question. How in the hell can a football program that gets the most highly rated recruits be so mediocre for so long? It takes a special kind of program to take the best raw talent in the nation and turn them MAC level

Again that must be why we're on national television every week.

Lots of people drink Busch Light, listen to Nickelback, and watch ND football. You know what they all have in common? They suck, and will give you a headache.

It's tough to be any higher when there are 21 college stadiums larger than Spartan Stadium.

I can think of many of those stadiums who don't come close to capacity at any games. Miami, USC, UCLA. It would take at least another 5-7 years of sustained high level success before we'd sniff the consideration of being a football school.

Well, my thoughts on this are either

A-Notre Dame really sucks at coaching or

B-Maybe ranking teenage kids isn't an exact science and it may not be wise to develop your expectations on competing for national recruiting championships.

In my opinion it has to be a lot of A. Because Notre Dame gets recruits year after year that have offers from the top programs. Regardless of the recruiting ratings, a lot of other elite programs offer the players that ND gets. And a lot of excellent coaches want those players. And Notre Dame can barely float above .500; it's pathetic.
