I think we have a good tailgate culture of our own. This reminds me of how MLS fans act like/do things like they are in England. It's phony and played out. We shouldn't pretend something we are not. I think Big Ten tailgates are badass without fedoras and sundresses.

Pretty much the only midwestern state as concerned with appearances as much of the South is Minnesota, and that just has to do with how nice you appear to be (Minnesota Nice).

Wearing khakis and polos because of social pressure to conform=everybody looks douchey.

Living in the south, southerners are often waaaaaay too quick to organize social events with waaaaay too stringent dress codes and expectations. Midwest>south when it comes to public fashion.

I get the idea. I've seen photos of MSU students and alums in the 50s and 60s. An image that actual depicts the point might be fun... That's all...
