Wait, people wear hoodies in Michigan in October?

there's a much larger cultural subtext that you are all missing. in the north people with money go to schools like yale and harvard, or johns hopkins, where football really isn't a priority. i have a friend who went to penn. the way people dressed up for a house party was like it was a formal event. schools like in the B1G have a much broader student population. our fine institution is both high achievement and offering accessible education to many more people. this is something to be proud of.

down south there aren't as many schools like the ivy league. a lot of southern old money goes to public institutions like bama and ole miss. and they act like rich people there, which includes wearing khakis and shirts with collars to a football game. because wearing anything more casual to an event wouldn't be dignified. i can understand the envy, but given my understanding of it, i'd rather wear what we wear and be proud that our school has a broader mission and fewer pretenses.

The OP has my full support. As long as the weather is looking good, so will I. That said, I don't care how people dress, but I would love to have the state-wide gameday excitement like they do in the south. No, don't try to claim I'm ripping MSU there.

Those polos are actually pretty cool, wouldn't wear it anywhere but to a golf course though.
